Stopping Cat Fights

|

It is natural for kittens to have a little play fight every now and then. It is in them to learn this behavior. The trouble starts though when they become cats and the fights end up hurting them. Here are a few short tips to breaking up a cat fight.

Never step in between the cats while they are fighting. They don't know or care you are there. Take a broom and guide one cat into a room. This separates the two fight cats. After an hour check on the cat. If it is ready to eat then you know he or she is out of battle mode.

Don't have multiple cats in your home. If you have too many then they can't find a space to get away from the other cats.

Another good tip is to take a blanket and toss it on them. This is temporarily startling to them and possibly will stop the fight.

Never spray water on the cats. This doesn't stop the fighting. It only makes them wet and probably even more ready to fight.

Keep their clams trimmed. By keeping them trimmed down this will reduce injury to the cats and you too.

Finally the best tip to stop cat fighting is to get your cat spayed or neutered. This is known to not only control the pet population but also helps aggression in pets.

Sometimes the cats will just not get along. Especially when an older cat has been the main boss around the house for awhile and then a new cat is introduce. In the end you might have to consider giving one of the cats away to either a relative, friend, or the local shelter.

Make Recycling a Trend in Your Home

|

If you have kids in the home, letting them know how important recycling can be is extremely important. Whether you already have a strict recycling routine in your home or you're looking to up the ante to teach kids how imperative recycling is - you can use some of these tips to make recycling fun and convenient in your home.

• Let your kids decorate recycling bins for your kitchen or patio so that they can easily separate glass, plastic, paper, and aluminum. For younger kids, it will help them learn to differentiate between the different materials and older kids will learn which materials are recyclable and which ones aren't. By buying large, colorful plastic bins and allowing kids to write with sharpie marker on them what each bin is for - they'll feel like they truly took a part in getting your family to do the right thing and recycle.

• Keep a chalkboard near the recycling bin or bins in your home so that kids can mark down when they tossed a recyclable item in. Whether it's a soda can or some old papers from school, they can keep a tally on what they contributed. At the end of the month, you can tally everything up and then challenge kids to get an even higher number next month. Siblings can also use their natural rivalry to their advantage while giving back to their environment.

• Each month, plan a Saturday, Sunday, or day off of school to complete a recycling based craft project with kids. Instead of going out and purchasing craft supplies - use what you already have in the home. Let kids get creative and use their imaginations to their advantage. Whether they want to make a collage out of old newspapers and magazines for their room, or they want to decorate an old coffee can to store their treasures in - you can show them how easily you can turn trash into treasure. As a bonus, you'll save money by utilizing everyday household items instead of running to the toy or craft store for an afternoon project idea.

• Aside from actually recycling in the home, kids should realize that what recycling truly boils down to is a cleaner, greener environment. If your kids have shown a great interest in recycling and you'd like to take it a step further, getting kids into gardening can make them even more environmentally conscious. By helping them plant and maintain their own herb garden in the yard, they can grow all natural ingredients for your next family dinner. They'll be able to take on some true responsibility and have a sense of pride and accomplishment when the herbs are ready to be added into your next meal. Having an herb garden is not just a great project for kids, but you'll save yourself money and trips to the grocery store in the future!

• Finally, encourage your kids to find out what more they can do to help in their community. Many schools have started recycling efforts, so having kids talk to their teachers about recycling can help them stay informed about what their school is doing to help. Some communities have "clean-up" projects that always require volunteers. By participating in something like this with your kids, it will be a great bonding experience for the two of you, while making your community a cleaner, greener place to live.

Giving your kids the right ideas when it comes to recycling will be something that will benefit them for years to come. By teaching them the importance of recycling at a young age and raising them with these same standards, they'll be more likely to pass on the same ideas to their children. The environment isn't going to fix itself, so making sure kids are aware of the world around them will help parents raise a generation that truly cares about making the world a greener place. With concerns always growing about pollution, global warming, and the ozone layer - it's never been more important to think about reducing, reusing, and recycling in the home. By showing kids that recycling can be fun - you'll be paving the way for a happier earth.

Four Body Language Secrets

|

How would you like to learn how to read body language? People wouldn't be able to lie to you easily and you'd also understand people a lot more. Body language is unspoken, subtle yet so crucial to our everyday interaction with people as it cuts through barriers of communication and illuminates what others may be thinking and how they may act.

The trick to reading body language is to learn how to recognize the signals someone else is giving, and at the same time mask your scan of them so they don't detect what you are doing. How would you feel if you were being scrutinized? Uncomfortable? They would feel the same way too.

1. Eyes - Watch someone's eyes. If their pupils dilate, it usually means that person is interested. The eyes are the windows to the soul and you can tell a lot about someone if you know what to look for. Be careful though, the same signal can be interpreted in many different ways and depends on the context of the circumstances at the time. Pupil dilation could also mean that the subject is on drugs, or that they are very focused.

If someone's eyes are looking off to one side it is also a tell that they are feeling guilty, they may be lying to you at that point. Practise and perfect this tell, as once again, this may have many interpretations and meanings.

2. Hands - If they have open hands, they are likely to be more relaxed and comfortable. Hands talk, a lot, and generally open hands signal when someone is open and does not have raised defenses. Wherever you go in the world, someone approaching with a closed fist is a sign of aggression and trouble, whereas an open hand is always construed as a signal of peace and good intent.
When people get tense or nervous they will naturally start to close their hands, watch what happens to your hands the next time you watch a scary film or ride a roller-coaster.

3. Mimickry - If someone starts to mimic your body position when you are talking to them, they are comfortable in the situation and are likely to be interested in you or what you have to say.

It is usually easy to tell if someone is mimicking, or mirroring you with good intent. Sometimes this is done as a mockery and the context and feel of the conversation or interaction will be completely different. Again, practise and figure out how to identify the two different contexts of synergy and mockery.

4. Arms - There are two main expressions with the arms, they can either be open or folded. Folded arms mean that the person is likely to be defensive, angry or disapproving. Open arms are a signal that the person is being honest and also accepting of the situation he or she finds herself in.

Folded arms also a way of forming a barrier, defensive or otherwise between them and yourself. Bouncers in nightclubs often stand with folded arms when they're blocking doorways or otherwise trying to assert themselves.

Is it Correct to Judge a Book by Its Cover?

|

Everyone has heard of the proverb "never judge a book by its cover", but how many of us actually understand the true meaning behind it, and how many of us actually practice it? No matter how advanced our society has become, the ugly side still shows with our attitude and behavior.

I'm sure everyone has experienced the situation depicted by this proverb one way or the other. To further illustrate the meaning behind this proverb, I'll be sharing a story which had happened to a friend of a friend of mine.

With the recent economy crisis hitting countries all around the world, university graduates stepping into the working world had a tough time looking for a job. Shane, a very bright graduate, found himself in the middle of this struggle for job. Thus, he made the decision to further his studies, even with much opinion against this choice of path. While waiting for his admission into the university, Shane took up a part-time job as a cashier at a mini mart owned by one of his relatives.

On three separate occasions within this one working-month, a similar conversation took place. Patron asked, "Why are you wasting your youth working in this mini mart? Are you still studying?" Shane who had just graduated, and is still waiting for his admission, replied "No."

These patrons shook their heads, gave him a very demeaning stare and said, "What a waste! You should contribute to the society instead of wasting your time here." What classic examples of shallow people in our society.

Well, Shane is now doing his PhD and probably has a bright future ahead. We'll know soon enough.

As the old saying goes, never judge a book by its cover.

How Can I Get Permanent Weight Loss?

|

That's what I asked myself five years ago. I searched Google but did not find a single, meaningful answer to the question; how can I get a permanent weight loss? If you take a look yourself, you will see lots of promises about weight loss, even permanent weight loss, but all of them require you to count calories to lose weight. None of them can promise you won't put the weight back on again. Yet isn't that what a permanent weight loss means?

I have spent five years testing a a discovery I made back then. It has enabled me to stay slim for the past five years. Yet, for the thirty years prior to that, I had struggled, unsuccessfully, to lose weight for more than brief periods.

That has all changed. I not only look a lot better, I feel great and I cannot remember a time when I had more energy. What has made this change possible?

First of all, I discovered That Diets Do Not Work. Not ever. They can't work because they contradict nature. That applies no matter how convincing or how healthy a diet sounds, it will not work.

You were not designed by nature to diet, and the moment you start to count calories, you have already defeated yourself. You see, our body was created with built-in weight control, which nature designed to help adjust and keep our weight stable. The moment we start to mess with calorie charts and food groups we are eating foods we were not designed to eat and we are depriving our body of the very food it needs to perform the tasks we always depended on it to do in the past.

We effectively send our body famine messages which ultimately interfere with the body's natural mechanism.

Most of us, who have dieted several times, have reached a point when we have lost the ability to control our weight. The result is, we have had to rely on 'experts' to advice us how to lose weight and the 'experts just happen to be the creators of the very same diets which have caused our problems in the first place.
It is not possible to lose weight on a diet for long. Very soon we are destined to put the weight right back on again. Each time we try, we put on more weight than we had when we began. At least the body still knows how to protect itself, even if it is for the wrong reason.

You need to learn how to sort this out because it is not going to get better till you do. What I have learned really should have been discovered long go, by a professional. It should have come from a scientist or a medical research facility and I waited five years for that to happen. When it didn't and when I heard we now have an obesity epidemic, I realized I had to do something. So I wrote down everything I had learned.

Anyone who knows my story will understand why this has happened, how we can stop it and how we can reverse the process. We need to make sure our body can once again function as nature meant it to do.
If this all sounds too fantastic, ask anyone who was an adult forty years ago. They can tell you that back then most people were slim. Slim Was Normal. Ongoing weight problems were rare and usually caused by a medical condition like thyroid or diabetes.

In those days slim people were by far the majority. Type2 diabetes had never been heard of and obesity was an abnormality. Today, most people, some sixty percent, are clinically overweight. No one believes that this problem is NOT going to get worse with each year that passes.

The greatest tragedy is that it is no longer a problem confined to the individual. It has become a generational problem and a 'family problem'. Our children now inherit our lifestyle along with the weight.

Working From Home and Your Health

|

Just because you decide to work from home doesn't mean you don't have to look after your health.

Did you think that because you can sit in bed and do your work you can afford to get sick? Think again. Now more than ever, you have to take proper care of yourself.

When you were working for a boss, you had sick leave. They paid you when you were sick. Now, if you don't work, you don't earn any money. If you're lucky, you may have passive income to fall back on when you are not well enough to work but most work- from -home people, especially those just starting out, need to work.

How can you look after your health? You need to eat healthy food, exercise every day and get a good eight hours sleep every day. That sounds easy, doesn't it?

You need at least thirty minutes of exercise every day. It's not hard to go for a brisk walk once a day. You could try walking the dog or going for a walk with a friend. It doesn't even have to be a walk as long as you get you heart pumping for half an hour.

Swimming is an excellent form of exercise too.

You should pay attention to what you eat as well. Sitting at the computer for most of the day can encourage you to snack on junk food and drink to many soft drinks or coffees.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are better for you and not fattening. Carrot or celery sticks are a good snack. Choose these instead of junk food and you will stay healthy.

Getting out with friends is vital to your health. Socialising is important to people and it will help you stay healthy.

Don't go out too often or stay out late all of the time. You still need your eight hours of sleep each day.

How to Find a Secured Loan

|

If you're searching for a good deal on a secured loan, it pays to know where to look. Finding the best rates can make a noticeable difference to your monthly outgoings - but with so many deals on offer, it can be difficult to keep track.

Explaining secured loans
If a loan is 'secured', it means that your home is a form of 'safeguard' against the deal. Because lenders consider this type of loan a lower risk than unsecured loans, you will often have access to lower interest rates and a longer repayment period. Because the loan is secured against your home, failing to make repayments could ultimately result in your home being repossessed (although this is generally a last resort). But as long as you're sure you can keep up with your repayments, a secured loan could be a great way of raising some additional funds.

How to find the best secured loan deals - There are a number of things you can do to get yourself one step ahead in the loans market.

Do your research
Taking the first deal you come across is rarely a good idea. It's easy to get a rough idea of the rates that each lender is offering - either online or on the high street. Take special care to find out whether there are any catches - some of the interest rates advertised may not apply to the amount you are borrowing, for example. Also be aware that the rate you are offered will largely depend on your credit history, so if your credit history is not perfect, you may end up paying a little more than advertised.

Take your time
Don't necessarily expect to take out your new loan the very same week you start looking. It's often a good idea to set aside some to search the market to ensure that you are aware of what deals various lenders are offering.

Get free loans advice
Speaking to an expert loans adviser can often make a real difference. Since they will have information on a range of lenders at any given time, your loans adviser can easily compare the best deals for your circumstances.

Blue Screen After Start Up - How to Fix

|

What can be more annoying than to have an error message at the very beginning of your computer usage? You would rather have a busted electrical outlet than to continuously have to endure the blue screen after start-up. And how can you possibly guess the problem if the blue screen is followed instantaneously by a black screen while it reboots? It is as if the computer doesn't want to be fixed at all.

Before you get too furious, you should be thinking of ways on how to read that error message that goes with the blue screen before the computer restarts automatically. If you are able to click some buttons first before the blue screen of death pops up again, make sure that you have unchecked the automatic restart option under the Start Up Settings. So with that, you will have ample time to read what the error message actually is before it reboots. Knowing the exact error will help you get to the root cause of the problem instead of second guessing the error which only wastes your time while your computer is in critical condition.

Having the blue screen immediately after the start up, means that there must be something wrong with your installations. Since it doesn't happen when the system gets overloaded when you open too many programs, you can start isolating the problem. Once you see the real problem as indicated in the error screen, then you can check online on how to fix it.

If it is not as big of a problem as you think it is, it can probably be resolved easily by running a Startup Repair or by System Restore Utility. Again it can be as effortless as running an anti-virus check or cleaning the registry. And it might just be the power source that has the problem that's why it keeps on rebooting. Check all possible causes from the most obvious before you delve into the trickier aspect of the problem.

Having the BSOD at the very beginning of your computer operation may be a little harder to resolve. And most likely, the blue screen of death has already happened before at random times during a computer operation that you were able to fix by a simple system reboot. If you have not tried any other means to correct the error like cleaning the registry, running system and anti-virus checks; then the glitch has obviously gotten worse. Rebooting is as good as ignoring the problem and merely hoping that the computer will eventually forget the problem. However, this quick fix may have already caught up with your system. If this is the case, then the rebooting solution has reached its end and it might be better for you to consult a computer technician to correct the problem and salvage your computer from an impending death.

The lesson here is to get the best solution even for the simplest dilemma. You cannot fool the computer too long. Besides, unlike human who can hide their true feelings like the frustration that you feel right now with gritted teeth, computers are not designed that way. The system will falter eventually when not fixed and it can only give you this much evidence like a blue screen that the system is suffering. You better tackle the problem from the start before the computer suffers an untimely death.

The Meaning of Eye Contact

|

One of the most powerful body language tools that a human being has is one of the subtlest movements we can make - Eye Contact (since this phrase is used a lot in this post, I have abbreviated "eye contact" to EC). The energy it takes to shift your eyes from one place to another or lock your eyes in place with another person's eye is little to none. It can be effortless or can be as fast as a blink of an eye; yet, it shows a lot about one's character.

Traditionally speaking, EC is more prevalent in western cultures. For example, in America, it is a sign of respect when one makes dirt EC when talking to an superior person such a boss or the president, while in Japan or China, it would be a sign of disrespect if one were to look directly at a superior in the eye such as the emperor or even, in some common cases, an elderly person.

People who have grown up in western cultures have learned to use EC as a sign of being friendly, polite, acknowledging one's presence, while people who eastern cultures are more cautious of how EC is use. Stereotypically and traditionally speaking, you will see more westerners use EC while easterners will tend to shy away from it and not use EC as much.

However, as times are changing fast and the meaning behind EC is now being universalized. EC nowadays, isn't as dependent on the cultural upbringings as it once used to, and more or less, just depends on the type of person they are or the person's personality.

Even though there can cultural differences in EC, EC is one the most basic, fundamental traits of human beings. That is to say that everybody, whether you are from Los Angeles, California to Taipei, Taiwan, understands, to some extent, what EC means on a fundamental level. Here are some examples that I thought of that most people can relate to.

Looking Away from Somebody

This happens to everybody every single day out in public. Two people are within the proximity of 10 feet of each other. One person will look at the other person, until he or she is caught. Then immediately the person who is caught will look away. They might look up, down, or something that's not even there just to escape being looked at again. Then, when the other person looks away, this person who was caught might look back at them.

Even though both people here do not make EC with each other, but both people definitely feel that the other person is looking at them. The presence is there, even though nothing is being said. This is socially acceptable when one is just passing by for a moment or will be gone in a couple of minutes. It's not that bad.

But when stuck in the same room (such as a classroom) where you are in front of a person, then looking back and forth will cause awkward tension. The key to breaking this tension when in this condition is basically starting up a conversation, even if it's about nothing, because it is better than having awkward EC games.

Staring at Someone

When one makes EC and stares at someone, this could be deadly body language. It also really depends on who is in play here. If a man stares at a woman, this might really creep her out. She will most likely feel the need to leave. If a man stares at another man, the man who is being stared at might feel "threatened" and stare back at the first man, resulting in a staring down contest. This usually brings out unwanted tension which might break out into a fight.

Try not to stare at someone because it may come off rude, inappropriate, and even cause friction between you to. However, if you know them pretty well, such as two lovers staring back at each other for fun, then go for it.

Making EC and Smiling

Not a lot of people can pull this off because they are shy or do want to risk the feeling of not being looked back. However EC plus smile shows the sign of a confident person, but most importantly, it sends out a energetic, positive vibe, to the person who receives this on the other end. They will really have no choice but to make EC back and smile back, and if they do, usually you guys will start out on good terms.

Making EC while Talking
Not talking while making EC is weird in my opinion. But making EC while talking shows confidence and a sense of release in tension. Also, while talking to another person, people don't like it when the other person looks away or doesn't look back at them. It sort of a sign of disrespect and sure won't land you a good score at that job interview.

So, while holding EC with a person, talk to them. You also build a more intimate relationship with them ranging anywhere from dating, building a bond between friendships, or involving yourself with people at work.

Here Are Ten Random Tips on EC

1. If you're going to talk to somebody for the first time, be sure to make EC from the start.

2. Looking at a person's eyes, with a dose of friendliness shows a sign of trust and sincerity.

3. Looking a person's eyes means that you're giving them your undivided attention and showing them that you respect them at some level, and if you were talking to them, you would want them same kind of attention and respect back as well.

4. Don't hold EC for too long as it might creep someone out or make them feel uncomfortable. Look away from time to time, even if it's at the nearest wall, to make communication seem more natural.

5. If you're shy and have a hard time holding EC with somebody, a trick to do is to look at their nose or mouth while they are speaking.

6. Showing EC means you are also showing interest in the person, which can build into rapport and form a strong relationship quickly.

7. Don't stare at someone that you don't know if you don't intend to talk to them.

8. You can tell if a person is lying from their EC because it is harder to lie and look at somebody straight in the eyes.

9. You can also distinguish what kind of person they are from their EC - shy, confident, aggressive, cocky?

10. Finally, this is twofold, but if you wish to talk to somebody you don't know, glancing at them first and waiting for them to acknowledge you with their glance will show that you are interested in talking to them. They will feel this and if they are relaxed about it, it would make access to going up to them more comfortable to doing something like saying, "Hi!"

Mercury in Seafood

|

Seafood is not only delicious but very nutritious as well. Fish and shellfish are low in saturated fat while containing the healthy omega-3 fatty acids. In addition, they have many other nutrients that keep us strong and promote healthy development. However, fish also contains mercury which is can be dangerous to our health. Most people do not need to worry about the trace amounts of mercury and can eat seafood without concern. However, the bodies of little children can be harmed. Mercury damages the developing nervous system. As a result the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as well as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), advises women who may become pregnant, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and young children to avoid certain types of fish that are higher in mercury.

Mercury is a naturally occurring element in the environment. It enters the air via industrial pollution and falls into lakes and streams. When mercury enters the water it turns into methylmercury. This is the type of harmful mercury that can be harmful to little bodies. All fish absorb the methylmercury. However, some absorb more mercury than others. Therefore, depending upon what fish you eat, the levels of mercury will vary.

Mercury builds up in an adult's bloodstream and overtime the body processes it. Before you become pregnant, it is important to avoid food with mercury, so that your body has time to cleanse itself. This way, when you conceive, the baby will have a healthy environment in which to thrive.

By selecting certain fish and shellfish, women and children are able to still enjoy the nutritional benefits of fish while reducing their exposure the mercury. Swordfish, Shark, King Mackerel, and Tilefish all contain high levels of mercury and therefore, should be avoided. However, shrimp, canned light tuna, Pollock, salmon, and catfish are all low in mercury. Be careful not to confused light tuna with albacore tuna. Albacore tuna contains higher levels of mercury. The local authorities will have information about how safe the fish caught in your area is. This will help you know how much you can eat. If you are unable to find advice, don't eat more than six ounces per week. For children, the size should be proportionally less.

Take Quick Action If You Have These Diabetic Symptoms!

|

Those early warning signs that something is not quite right with your body ... how much are they bothering you? You may have seen your health care provider and he has not been able to see these symptoms could be an indication you are heading towards type 2 diabetes. Maybe you are in the early phase of insulin resistance, or pre-diabetes, where you are feeling tired for no obvious reason. To help you see what is going on, ask yourself the following questions which may show you have diabetic symptoms:

1. Physical Signs. Do you have:

  • love handles?
  • a pot belly or belly fat?
  • a waist measurement 40 inches (100cm) for males, 35 inches (90 cm) for females?
  • the need to urinate frequently, even during the night time?
  • have a dry mouth and feel dehydrated?
  • experience frequent heartburn?
  • blurriness in your vision even if only for a few minutes?
  • tingling or "pins and needles" in your hands or feet? Commonly occurs during the night.
2. Energy Clues. Are you:
  • tired after finishing a meal?
  • feeling tired in general. Do you wake up feeling tired, or feel fatigued in the afternoon?
  • a fuzzy thinker a lot of the time?
  • irritable when you don't eat on time, you become cross?
3. Medical History. Do you:
  • have high cholesterol or triglyceride levels?
  • have a close family member with type 2 diabetes (parent, or grandparent)?
  • know if your mother had gestational diabetes?
  • know your birth-weight. Were you less than 6lbs or more than 9lbs?
  • have high blood pressure?
4. Eating Habits. Do you:
  • snack often?
  • feel hungry shortly after eating a meal?
  • have food cravings especially for sweet foods?
  • have several sugary drinks each day?
  • eat out or have fast-food several times a week?
Do you know it has been predicted that 50% of people will be pre-diabetic in just a few years. Being overweight, insulin resistant, or diabetic, increases your risk of dying of any cause at a younger age. Initial symptoms may seem minimal, high blood sugar levels and type 2 diabetes can, in the long run, make your life miserable.

If you find you are experiencing any of the above diabetic symptoms, do not hesitate to contact your health care provider. He will organize the testing of your blood sugar levels to confirm whether you have insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes.

You can try to forget about your symptoms and do nothing at all, maybe hoping it will all go away. Or you can learn about all the factors that have led you to type 2 diabetes. The more you learn the more you will be in control of your body.

How to Use Simple Secrets For Natural Healing of Any Diseases

|

Yes, my belief that you can heal yourself of any diseases by taking charge of what you "put" into your body to strengthen your immune system has been reiterated by this article which I have read. This article is written by a Chinese doctor Tom Wu who has been diagnosed with advanced stages lung cancer when he was 30 years old and was told that he has only a few months to live. But this happened 40 years ago and now Dr Tom Wu who is 70 years old is living a healthy life. Not only his cancer is completely gone, he has never had a cold or other illness for the past 40 years and he has revealed his secrets on how to heal yourself in his first book, Dr Wu's Principle of Natural Cures.

These secrets revolve around our own body system - the immune system which is already in-built within us to combat any bacteria or viruses which are attacking us and if we learn how to properly nourish and "exercise' our immune system, you have already discovered the core secret to good health.

Secrets to naturally heal yourself by taking charge of your immune system :

1.Exercise your bowel movements at least 3 times a day
Remove toxins from your body by having at lease 3 bowel movements every day.
According to Dr Wu, a bowel movement a day is not sufficient to remove the toxins but needs 3 to 4 bowel movements a day to excrete all of the accumulated faeces from your intestine and to reduce stress on your liver and build-up of cholesterol in your body. How do you ensure that you get these bowel movements, leads us to the next secret.

2.Have a diet of 6 glasses of fruit or vegetable smoothies daily
This has many benefits :
- Phyto-nutrients are easily ingested to nourish your body's cells and immune system. It is recommended to use the whole of the fruit or vegetable - flesh, skin, seeds as they are loaded with phyto-nutrients and most of the fruit seeds contain small amounts of cyanide which can kill bacteria and viruses without the harmful side effects.
- Provides sufficient fiber for the recommended 3 times bowel movements a day

The recommended time to drink your smoothie is 2 glasses in the morning, 1 before lunch, 2 in the afternoon and finally 1 more before dinner. However, to give time for your body system to adjust, start with at least 3 glasses a day.

Sources of fruits - green or red apples, grapes, berries, pineapples, kiwi, lime, papaya, banana
Sources of vegetables - celery, spinach, carrots
You can try other choice of your favorite fruits or vegetables.

3.Tan yourself under the sun for 30 minutes daily
Great news for suntan lovers and even better news as according to Dr Wu, do not cover your body with sunblock as we all need sunlight for adequate stores of vitamin D to strengthen our immune system. However, restrict this to only 30 minutes daily. Vitamin D is for preventing colds, osteoporosis and certain types of cancer. Combination of Vitamin A and D can maintain sound bones and teeth and helps to build up resistance against winter's cold.

Sources of Vitamin A are fish oils, eggs, cheese, alfalfa leaves, spinach and broccoli. There is some evidence that a deficiency of Vitamin A may be related to lung cancer.

Another great secret of successful healing with sunlight is its combination with water. It has been claimed that new bone cells can be formed when sunlight reaches the marrow with the aid of cold water packs especially cold packs from fresh sun-soaked rainwater.

4.Exercise for at least 30 minutes daily
Just 30 minutes a day is enough to restore and maintain your health as if you exercise more than this will only stress your heart and body. A brisk walk of 30 minutes daily can do wonders for your health as some people can walk themselves out of depression and anxiety.

5.Hydrotherapy - the water secret
Take a hot shower then with cold water as by alternating hot and cold shower has many benefits -
- Facilitate a rush of blood and energy to your body
- Boosts your immune system
- Improves blood circulation and metabolism

Here is how you do it :-
Three minutes under hot water followed by 30 seconds of cold water and repeat 2 more times.
Some health farms prepare two baths, one with cold and the other with hot water. On the floor in front of the cold bath is a footbath of hot water and likewise on the floor in front of the hot bath is a footbath of cold water. When you take the cold bath, your feet will be soaked in the hot water and when taking the hot bath your feet will be soaked in the cold water. You repeat this process - three minutes in the hot and one minute in the cold, finishing up with the cold. It has been claimed that it is great for varicose veins, piles and pelvic troubles.

6.Drink water according to your lifestyle and in the proper way
There is no fast rule as to how much water to drink daily as it depends on individual's lifestyle. If you are working in an air-condition environment, drinking 6 glasses of water daily is enough but if your work involves a lot of traveling and moving around, you need to drink 8-10 glasses a day. However if you are under the sun most of the time, have at least 10-12 glasses.

How you drink your water plays an important part and Dr Wu recommends that the correct way is to sip it little by little to give your body cells time to absorb the water as if you were to gulp the whole glass, the cells cannot absorb it and the water will be excreted as urine.

7.Eat according to your blood type.
This secret has also been written by Dr. Peter Adamo in his book "Eat Right for your Type'' by Dr. Peter Adamo which focuses on enabling your body to heal itself through fasting, diet, hydrotherapy and exercise.
Dr Wu wrote that people with blood type O should only eat a certain amount of meat as if they eat only vegetables for a long time, their body might not be able to absorb the nutrients needed to boost their immune system. He recommended a diet of 75% vegetables, 10% fruits, 10% meat, seafood and goat's milk and should avoid cow's milk and 5% grains.

Blood group A should increase their diet of grains and fruits and to avoid milk and meat. Blood group B to avoid meat and group AB to avoid chicken and beef.

8.Eat in natural tandem with your biological clock,
If we listen to our body carefully, it gives us signs or signals when it is time to eat, sleep and wake up and if you consistently ignore such signals, you are putting your organs at risk, stressing them to lose their natural balance which can result in accumulation of toxins and wastes, weakening your immune system leaving your body vulnerable to attacks of bacteria and viruses.

Dr Wu said that our biological clock is divided into three time zones.

From 4am to noon is when you should be emptying your bowels, so prepare yourself a diet pack with fiber in the morning - fruit and vegetable smoothies as suggested earlier.

From noon to 8pm, your body will optimally absorbs food, so lunch is the most important meal. A vegetable salad with grains is highly recommended with fish or boiled eggs We should try to avoid meat at dinner as the amino acids in the meat can disrupt your sleeping patterns and try to have your dinner by 6pm.

From 8pm to 4am, the nutrients and energy from food will be channeled throughout your body organs and the secret to a restful sleep is between 10pm and 2am, as this is the time your immune and self-healing system are functioning at its optimal.

Taking charge of your health involves a natural, simple and holistic approach by learning to nourish your body through proper nutrition, exercise and taking control of your lifestyle. These are the simple secrets which all of us know or have heard of but never really give them serious thought and consistent effort to to use them to heal ourselves but instead search high and low for a cure when the cure is already within us.

"Nothing can be more important or necessary to know than the science of nutrition, so let your medicine be your food and your food your medicine". - Hippocrates

Can't Sleep - Coffee, Tea and Insomnia

|

Why can't you sleep after drinking coffee?

We all know coffee and sleep doesn't go together. But tea does -which seems strange since tea contains the same stimulant as coffee (caffeine) although in lower doses.

The answer is that tea contains two alkaloids, which are thought to relax the smooth muscles whilst coffee stimulates the heart, and the respiratory system. Tea thus soothes you more than it stimulates. You can also find caffeine in chocolate, especially dark chocolate, and in some nuts, and of course in many soft drinks. It can also be found in some pain killers and energy drinks.

This happens when you drink coffee:

• Your heart rate goes up and your Central Nervous System is stimulated.

• Your blood pressure goes up.

• Less blood flows to your skin.

• Your kidneys work harder - possibly making you dehydrated.

• The brain releases more Dopamine.

• Fatty acids are released from fat tissue.

What does all this mean then? Simplified and in short - you feel more awake and alert! You can even feel anxious and over stimulated, some persons get anxious and "hyper".

Caffeine also counteracts the build-up of a natural brain substance called adenosine, which builds up during daytime and which promotes tiredness and sleep.

Now, this is exactly the opposite of what you want when you are getting ready for sleep.

Difficulty going to sleep is a common reaction after coffee, because the brain's normal routine before bedtime is to produce melatonin, which helps to relax us, and to production of adrenaline.

Coffee however, suppresses melatonin and increases the production of adrenaline. In other words, exactly the opposite of what you want!

Some studies have shown that if you drink coffee before going to bed you'll take about twice as long to go to sleep than if you drink decaf coffee. And of course, since coffee might make you anxious and make you feel "hyper" it's not helpful ...

When To Stop Drinking Coffee - Or Caffeinated Drinks

Caffeine is readily absorbed, and you'll have peak concentrations about an hour after you've had your cup. How long it remains in your system varies a lot between people, a fairly common estimate is that it does take between 3 to 6 hours to disappear.

Why the difference?

Nobody knows, really. Your genes certainly play a role, as does how used you are to it. Persons used to drinking coffee can drink more than someone who drinks it for the first time.

On average most grown-ups in Europe consume about 200 milligrams of caffeine per day, which corresponds to about 2 - 3 cups of coffee a day (or about 8 cups of tea). This includes soft drinks, so even if you don't drink coffee you probably get some caffeine in your system. The average in the US is probably higher, maybe twice or even more.

The coffee may be weaker but the servings are bigger!

A good idea if you know you're sensitive is to avoid coffee the last 3 -4 hours before bedtime. Some people - me included! - can drink coffee quite late and it doesn't have any ill effects at all.

will coffee then make you sleep deprived? Give you sleep problems?

Almost certainly not, unless you drink impressive amounts or are particularly sensitive. There is a lot of evidence now that the amount of sleep you actually need is often less than you think -as long as the quality of sleep is good.

If you like coffee then remember there is evidence that coffee actually has some very good effects, apart from making you more alert. The latest one comes from the "Alzheimers Research Trust", suggesting that maybe caffeine is good for memory!

Earlier studies suggest it can be good for some eye conditions "blepharospasm"), and lower your risk of diabetes, Parkinsons disease and more. No proof, just suggestions, but definitely something to think about...

So don't feel bad if you like coffee!

Evolution of Health Insurance

|

We all know that Medical health insurance pays for the medical expenses but now the question is what type of medical expenses it covers. Here you have to look at the slow revolution of this type of insurance. From the beginning to the modern day this health insurance policy has experienced lots of changes and experimentation's with itself.

When we study these changes then we can find out the answers of our questions. These days the term health insurance is used in a much broader concept as it was earlier. Now sometimes the health insurance also covers disability costs and also long-term nursing and custodial care if it is needed. Medical insurances are provided by government or government-sponsored social insurance program as well as private insurance companies. In every case the policy holders are needed to pay its premiums and taxes. And the health care policies will benefit them when the policy holders need them. The health care policies help protect themselves against the high and unexpected health care costs.

Let us now have a look at the history of the health insurance plans. It was Hugh the Elder Chamberlen from the Peter Chamberlen family, who was the first one to propose about the health care insurance plans in 1694. And perhaps the accidental insurance was the first among the health insurance policies first launched during the late 19th century. This was something like the modern disability insurance. This type of policies continued till the start of the 20th century.

The accidental insurance was first launched in the United States by the Franklin Health insurance Company of Massachusetts, which was founded in 1850. They offered insurance against the injuries from accidents caused by railroads and steamboats. Soon after, by the year 1966, about sixty companies were found to be offering accidental insurance in the United States. However, the main drawback was that other than the accidental insurance the Medicare beneficiaries were to pay for all other medical costs. Later during the late 20th century begins the start of the modern health insurance programs. And gradually it evolved and the present day Medicare policies cover a lot more things like preventives, emergency health care procedures, prescription drugs and others.

Now beside Medicare policies there are also Medigap policies which can be called Medicare Supplement Plans. The Medicare Supplement Plans or the Medigap policies are supplementary health insurance policies that are sold by the private insurance companies. These policies are not completely independent but actually they are invented as a supplement to the original Medicare insurance. These are closely related with the Original Medicare. The purpose of the Medicare Supplement Plans is to fill up the gap between the policy coverage of the Original Medicare plans and the actual medical bill payable.

That is a reason why these policies are also known as the Medigap plans. However, though these plans are totally administered and sold by the private insurance companies still there are only 12 standard plans under the letter heads A through L that they are permitted to sell.

How to Eat More and Lose Weight at the Same Time

|

Is it even possible to lose weight when you are eating more? Sounds too good to be true. But fitness enthusiasts are secretly smiling. They know something that others don't. It is, in fact, true that you can eat more than you normally do, and still lose weight at the same time. How does that work?

The secret lies in knowing what to eat. I'm sure you would have heard of the many so-called "healthy" diets that TV programs promote. Those are full of salads and other low calorie meals. But consuming low calorie meals is just one part of the equation.

If you want to lose weight for the long term, you must master both sides of the equation. On the one hand, you have your diet plan to think about. And on the other hand, you have your exercise program to think about.

The two must go hand in hand. Otherwise, your weight loss program is destined for failure. Let's take a look at why you need both for your program to be successful.

If you only have a diet plan, and you don't work out, you are not growing any stronger. In other words, there is no chance of your metabolism improving. That means the only way to lose weight is to lower your calorie count. But there is a limit as to how much calories you can avoid consuming per day.

Don't view calories as the ultimate enemy. It is not. In fact, you need between 1500 to 2000 calories each day in order to stay healthy. With all that calories, how does one lose weight then?

Here comes the other part of the equation - your exercise program. In order to boost your metabolism, you have no choice but to gain lean muscle mass. And there is only one way to do so - by engaging in resistance training.

Resistance training here means that you are using your muscles to push against an opposing force. It can be dumb bells, resistance strings / springs, or it can be your own weight. As long as you are using your muscles to push against an opposing force, your muscles will respond and grow accordingly.

When you are engaged in work outs, you have to choice but to eat well. Feed yourself with lots of proteins (about 1g of protein for every 1 pound of weight) so that you have enough for muscle growth and repair. As your muscles grow, your metabolic rate will become faster.

After about 4 weeks, you will start to notice changes to your body. Not only will you feel better, you will also look better. With an increased metabolic rate, your body now burns fat at a faster rate.

That's the main reason why you can eat more and yet lose weight at the same time! Your body just burns off the fat, even while you are not exercising.

The Dangers of Obesity in Pregnancy

|

If you are overweight and planning a pregnancy, it is in your best interest to lose unhealthy fat before attempting to conceive. Obesity is a factor in infertility, as well as in gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes is a dangerous situation both for mother and child. Moms can get full-blown diabetes after having gestational diabetes, and the unborn child could gain enough weight from all the excess sugar in the mother's bloodstream to the point that vaginal delivery is difficult or even impossible. It also puts the child at higher risk for diabetes when he or she is older.

Of course, it goes without saying that any woman and her partner who are suffering the heartbreak of infertility need to be evaluated for underlying causes by a physician. But obesity wreaks havoc with hormone levels, and normal hormone levels are necessary for ovulation. Losing weight can be an easy way to fight infertility without having to resort to expensive and exhausting fertility drugs and treatments.

As well, losing weight before conception and maintaining a healthy, physician-supervised weight gain in pregnancy means less time recovering your pre-pregnancy body after delivery. After all, who doesn't want a healthy pregnancy and baby and be a hot mama afterward too? Another thing to consider is the role of excess belly fat in heart disease. If you want to live to see your new baby dance at their wedding someday, you owe it to him or to her to lose that weight.

Losing weight doesn't have to mean subsisting on carrots, either. Learn proper portion sizes--for example a portion of rice is about the size of half of a tennis ball. A portion of meat is the size of a deck of cards, not half the size of your dinner plate. Get over processed foods containing, white flour, sugar,trans-fats and high-fructose corn syrup out of your diet, and replace them with whole grains, and natural sweeteners such as agave nectar, honey and pure maple syrup that don't wreak havoc on your blood sugar. Combine a healthy diet with interval cardio and a weight-lifting routine and watch those pounds melt away.

To Get Someone Back Try a Heartfelt Apology

|

You may be making the act of getting someone back more difficult than it has to be. There really is little difference in how you approach the situation if your ex left you a few days ago or a few months ago. To put it simply, you have to be committed to your cause and very determined to take the needed actions to get your ex back. That is your first goal. So, are you ready and determined?

Once you are committed you need to sit down and think about what went wrong in your relationship and how you may have played a part in it. Write your thoughts down if that works better for you. Your plan is not to place the blame on any one person but to simply figure out what you need to do to come up with an apology so you can make things right again. The old saying still applies. It takes two to make a relationship and two to break it up. Be sure to be honest with yourself if you are in part to blame for your breakup.

If the truth be told, in order to get someone back after a break up, you will need a very good apology. There is a way to get the apology to work better. It must really be a twofold plan. The apology must be an explanation of why you are sorry and then an explanation of the plan you will implement so that the same wrongs don't occur again. This may sound overly academic but it is the only way an apology can be considered a good apology in a situation where you are trying to get someone back.

When you explain in detail to your ex why you are sorry for the wrongs that were done, they will understand that you have taken the time to analyze the relationship in a way that does not put the blame on any one person. They will see that you have come up with what was objectionable about your own, and their behavior. But, if you are having trouble separating out your passion from thinking analytically then you may need a third party to help you be more clear in your thoughts.

A third party who is a professional may help in your situation. They can help you see things from the point of view of your ex. This could be the key to a good apology that will get someone back. This apology does not mean you will be a slave to your ex, doing anything he or she says. A third party will help you avoid that situation and think more clearly. If the professional thinks that your ex has a good point about some aspect of your behavior they will tell you and may also be able to help you change your bad behavior.

The second part of the apology, as we mentioned, is where you explain to your ex how the bad things that went on will not happen again. In this part you will present your ex with a good plan that you want to put in place, to ensure wrong behavior does not happen again. When your ex hears about your plan they will understand how sincere you are about getting them back. If they see you are working with a professional your ex will feel that there is hope for a second chance, since your desire to get them back is obvious.

To sum it up we can say it is important when trying to win someone back to be very sincere and honest in your efforts for an apology. When you behave in a determined but thoughtful manner, the chances are in your favor for getting your ex back.

Bottled Water is Still Dangerous

|

Bottled water is still dangerous, but the uproar about it seems to have died down in the past year. Grocery store shelves are still stacked high, and a look around any large gathering will reveal plastic water bottles in abundance.

It seems like that should be better than drinking sugary soft drinks - or soft drinks filled with toxic artificial sugars. But perhaps it's not. Recent research shows some disturbing reasons why water in plastic bottles may not be so healthy.

Here is one of the major reasons why: The water in that bottle may not be pure.

According to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), which is a nonprofit organization devoted to protecting health and the environment, more than 25% of all bottled water comes from a public source. That's right - it's the same water that's piped to homes and businesses.

How can that happen? Because they can. No one is demanding truth in advertising from water bottling companies!

Standards for purity exist, of course. BUT ...Bottled water purity is regulated by the FDA, and because the FDA puts low priority on water, bottlers are inspected and tested less than once a year. According to one FDA official, it's the manufacturer's responsibility to ensure that the product complies with laws and regulations.

The result: Some do, and some don't. And even worse, if the water is bottled and delivered within the same state, there are NO regulations.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates tap water, so if a bottler uses a public source that has passed their inspection, it should be OK to drink - right? Not necessarily.

In tests done by the NRDC, at least one sample from a third of the brands contained bacterial or chemical contaminants, including carcinogens in levels exceeding state or industry standards. Not to be argumentative, but I have to wonder why any level of carcinogens is OK.

So how does water that was considered "pure" turn into a health hazard? Through the bottling process. In many instances, that process exposes the water to contamination from lack of proper sanitation, and it exposes it to toxic chemicals in plastics.

Conscientious bottlers belong to their own regulatory associations such as NSF International or the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA). These groups conduct yearly unannounced tests and adhere to regulations which are often stricter than the FDA's.

If you MUST buy bottled water, look for the NSF or the IBWA emblem on the label.

Manufacturers are not required to let their customers know about contamination, but some do. Between 1990 and 2007 there were about 100 recalls of bottled water. Among the reasons for recall were contamination with benzene, mold, coliform bacteria, microbes, and even crickets!

What could be in the water bottled by manufacturers who choose not to belong to any regulatory association?

How to Make Time For You

|

"Time outs" are usually needed, but not always taken. Now, I'm not talking about a time out in the corner although that might also be something you need. I am talking about taking some much needed time for you and yourself.

There are many reasons you may not take time for yourself but today we are going to be discussing the main reason to be family.

Not taking the time for you because:

1. You have young children who demand your time?

- First step of demanding children is to get them to not be so demanding. If you follow these steps as well as get them accomplished they will not only allow you to have more time for yourself, but help you be less stressed.

- Concentrating on our ultimate goal which is to give you time for yourself you must find someone who can meet your requests and stick to the schedule you set. The more capable they are to following the schedule the more easy the transition will be back and forth. Your child will know no matter who is watching him/her they will be doing the same thing that you do for them. They will also know that if they do something wrong that they will have the same consequences (such as a time out).

2. Your other half works so hard you feel guilty?

- The first thing to do is to except the fact of your spouse or...having to work so much. If it can't be changed than there is no use in crying over spilled milk.

- If you find your spouse still offering to watch the children so you can have time to yourself... take the time! Don't feel guilty because although they work so do you! If you really feel guilty about it sit down with your spouse or casually bring it up and discuss you both having a day out of the week or every other week or even month for yourselves. Fit it into your schedule.

- Many parents feel guilty for leaving their children with someone else especially if you feel it is your duty, which is another thing I am going to ask you to except. Although you have the job of watching your children it does not mean you shouldn't get a break. If you work a 9-5 job they are required to give you breaks, so why should you not get a break working a 24/7 job? There is no "good enough" reason as to why you shouldn't!

3. Your children, spouse or yourself are not comfortable with others watching the kids?

- Find someone who you are comfortable with.

7 Helpful tips/ questions that may help you on how to find the right babysitter.

1.) Is this person reliable?
2.) Do they have your child's best interest at heart?
3.) Are they old enough for your situation?
4.) Do they have references?
5.) Are they punctual?
6.) Are you comfortable them?
7.) How much do they charge/Is the price okay for you?

There are also many search engines to look into different services and their requirements. You can also host your own personal interviews for the extremely important job opening, watching your beloved child/children.

- You may not feel comfortable leaving your children in the house with someone else or it may be the other way around and your children aren't comfortable with you leaving them alone with someone else. Remember, you don't necessarily have to leave the house to have time to yourself! If you are looking to get out of the house you can try doing it in steps by staying at home while someone else watches them. Go into another room, draw a nice bubble bath, or read a book. Do something you enjoy while knowing that your child is right in the next room and you are able to check in on them at anytime you feel the itch to. If it is your child who is uncomfortable try to stay away as much as possible, do not go into the same room as your child every time he/she calls for you. This will make it a harder process. Once you have both accomplished this task, try to do it for a short period of time, maybe schedule the sitter to come for an hour while you run an errand or two, OR you could go get a manicure! You could also schedule something fun for your child to do while you are out such as arts and crafts in the backyard or a new movie. Whatever your child's interest is make it fun for them so that you and they both know while you are gone they are going to be preoccupied and having fun. That should be all you need!

4. You work too much and don't feel like you have enough time in the day?

- Do you makes "to do" lists or keeps track of your deadlines? Or feel like there is not enough time in the day for all the things you need to get done? If you look back, I bet you get everything done on that "to do" list by your deadline. Even though you may be scrunching time in (i.e. all nighters) I could bet you that all the important things on that "to do" list always seems to get done by the deadline. You always have time, even though it may seem like there isn't. Determination is the key and your child/ren don't deserve any less than your best. Now if you are the one who works too much and you feel like the rest of your time should go toward your children, know that it isn't bad for you to take some time for yourself! Make another list of the time you have of which you don't work and separate sometime for them and sometime for you! Although your children need time with you, you need time for you as well. If you don't make time for yourself eventually it will hit you and you will have difficulty just coping with the everyday things.

No matter the reason you somewhat know that it is something you need or else you wouldn't be reading this article. The best way to look at it is, the much needed time you take for yourself will give you a break giving you some down time and making you feel less stressed. Ultimately making you a better mother/father or...etc. I wish you all the best of luck with these steps and hope everything works out wonderfully.

Writing - Top 7 Tips to Help You to Write More

|

Writing is an essential skill in the online world. The more you write, the more you earn. Let's look at seven tips which will help you to write more.

1. Use Free Writing to Create Text

Inexperienced writers stare at the computer screen. Experienced writers just start writing. They know that writing begets writing, and as long as they keep their fingers moving they will produce something worthwhile.

2. Set Goals for Your Writing

The goals you set depend on you. I like to set process goals, as well as financial goals. Process goals help you to boost your productivity. For example, you might set a process goal of two articles written each day, or 500 words written each day.

When you're starting out, it's difficult to set financial goals, but set a goal anyway. You can't hit a goal you don't set.

3. Create Plans to Achieve Your Goals (Even if You Don't Know How)

Even if you don't know how, create a simple plan which will help you to reach each of your goals. Since you can't "do" goals, you can only do tasks, you need to create plans.

4. Think Visually: Use Keywords and Mind Maps

I use mind maps every day, with everything that I write. Mind maps help you to use both sides your brain, and you'll find that when you use them, not only does your writing flow more easily, but it's more fun as well.

5. Write First Each Day (Yes, You Make a Cup of Coffee First)

If you're a new writer, make writing the first thing you do every day. Get up an hour earlier if you have to -- keep it up until writing is just a habit, it's what you do automatically.

6. Silence! Don't Share Your Words With Civilians

Don't share your writing with friends or relatives or anyone else if you're just looking for approval. This is pointless. Post your "free" writing online, on a blog, where it will help you to brand yourself.

If you're looking for buyers for your writing, share it with the people who can buy it; that is, with editors, agents, and webmasters.

7. Get Away from Your Computer: Write at Coffee Shops, Parks, the Beach...

You can feel pressured to produce when you're sitting in front of your computer. Take your writing to another location. You'll find that this inspires you, and gives you a fresh perspective.

Super Health Secrets - Healthy Alternatives to Sugar

|

There's a good reason humans have a sweet tooth - in our ancestral environment, it's a good indicator that there's a bunch of easily used calories and fuel in a substance.

Humans are essentially designed to like sweet things. Entire species have built their survival on the fact that we (and other animals) like to eat their fruit and will spread their seeds and pips further afield.

However - this is a major health problem when food manufacturers stuff dozens of chemically and heat processed sugar variants into every food you can think of.

An average healthy human tends to have around a tablespoon of sugar in the bloodstream. Any more and the body secretes insulin, a hormone that's approximately one billion year old, common in all mammals, one of whose tasks is fuel storage for survival.

The fact that insulin can be found that far back should give you a clue that it works - insulin takes sugars (and other fuels in varying degrees) and stores them as fat for later.

Evolutionarily this makes great survival sense - you don't know where you're next meal's coming from, so you better store some for emergencies.

Only in many folks, 'for later' never comes and the body keeps on shoveling the excess into more and more, better filled fat cells. Cancer cells for example can have 17 times the receptor sites for sugar than normal cells.

Now the good news - there are now available easily online several excellent natural sweeteners (made from you know... plants!;). They are all on the low glycemic side and have different flavours.

Agave nectar - comes from a cactus that looks like a giant aloe vera bush. Also called the century plant. Agave nectar is the extracted sap, and lends a nice sweet flavour to smoothies, consistency like a runny honey with clear gold colour. Can also get a darker, stronger version.

Stevia - Paraguayan plant approximately 180,000x sweeter than cane sugar. Used in tiny quantities. Can have slightly bitter aftertaste. Used in Japan in Diet Coke because they had the sense to make aspartame illegal due to it's dubious health records. Zero calories, helpful herbally for people with sugar sensitivities and cheap to grow yourself.

Flavoured Stevia's can also now be found in little dropper bottles for easy squirting into drinks and food. Given it's sweet, totally safe, calorie free, helpful medicinally and cheap you might be wondering why it's so hard to get in the UK and has been the subject of numerous court cases in the US. (Hint - there's several billion at stake each year from sale of synthetic sweeteners)

Manuka Honey - honey is an amazing food. Manuka honey is used in New Zealand on burn survivors as it helps heal skin conditions really fast. The most enzyme rich food on the planet, honeys taste great and are easy to add to food. People with sugar problems would be better with Stevia.

Yacon root syrup - similar properties to Agave but with a lower glycemic rating. Sugar molecules range from tiny (like refined sugar and fructose in fruit) through to huge long chain poly-saccharides, which are large, branching swirly sugar molecules.

The short chains taste really sweet and the flavour changes towards bitter then longer the molecule chain gets. Yacon is right about the point between 'sweet enough to be real tasty' in things but long enough that the GI is low and the poly-saccharides have the immune enhancing effect that they do.

Super-herbs like Reishi or Gynostemna gain their power from these long chain sugars, but don't tend to taste sweet, Reishi can be quite bitter. When ingested, the polysaccharides plug into receptors in the white blood cells and basically turbo-charges them.

The Right Age to Be Married

|

A few years ago, it was normal to find a twenty one year old who has achieved the major milestones in life; that means that one has graduated from college, is married and has a number of children.

Today, many people are pursuing their careers and putting marriage aside up to their later years of life. It is common to find a thirty year old lady, still single and deeply engrossed in building a career. Is this right?

Another issue that causes people to get married in their later years is that many parents shield their children from the world while arguing that their children are very young. You may find a twenty five year old man living with his parents who are willing to accommodate him for as long as possible, making their son not to grow up.

I am challenged by young men in their early twenties, who are in the army. These men are independent, can make sound decisions and are often entrusted with very expensive firearms. Why then should some parents feel that their twenty five year olds' are too young to marry?

If we allow our children to be responsible from an early age, we will be confident to see them enter into marriage as long as they are above eighteen years old and have met a desirable partner. With a family, people are compelled to work harder in life as they have no other option but to fend for their families.

For those focusing on building careers at the expense of marriage, I would like to advise that they take another thought and reconsider their decisions. After all, we all need someone special to share our life with.

Obesity and the Risk of Breast Cancer

|

Obesity is a famous risk factor for breast cancer after menopause, but it shows to keep women from raising the disease earlier in life as well.

Being overweight or obese has been connected to menstrual cycle irregularities and other medical states that restrict ovulation. Less ovulation denotes lower circulating levels of the breast-cancer- supporting hormones estradiol and progesterone. The idea has been that obesity assists look after against breast cancer before menopause, but not after it, by decrease circulating levels of these sex hormones.

Obesity remains one of the strongest risk factors for postmenopausal breast cancer. Approximately 80% of the diseases are identified in women who are 50 and over. Obese women might be more probable to expand the disease mainly since their bodies create more estrogen than thin women do.

New research advocates that the upsurge in its risk faced by obese postmenopausal women might mainly be because of higher levels of estrogens circulating in their bodies. High levels of estrogen are recognized to rouse certain types of breast cancer tumors to grow up and expand.

The study, issued in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, demonstrates that the average attention of estrogens in obese women was between 50% and 219% higher than in thin women, and the risk of breast cancer augmented by approximately 18% with every growth in body mass index.

Experts suggest that people establish customs of healthy eating and physical activity early in life to put off overweight and obesity. Those who are already overweight or obese are recommended to keep away from added weight gain, and to lose weight by way of a low-calorie diet and exercise.

Preventing overweight and obesity could potentially be a factor to lower levels of breast cancer risk. Many factors contribute to obesity including genetics, behavior, environment, and culture. However, recent agreement is that the continuing epidemic shows to stalk from current alterations in our environment encouraging overeating and discouraging physical activity. Surplus calories used but not applied eventually cause weight gain.

4 Reasons Why Diets Don't Work

|

If you've been on diets before you'll know that although they do produce results in the short term, very few diets will allow you to maintain that weight loss.

Worse than that the majority of dieters end up bigger than they were when they first started.

Frustrating isn't it?

So Why Don't Diets Work?

1. They Are Just Too Hard - Most diets involve a significant change to our eating habits that often causes stress, especially if it goes against how other people around us eat.

2. They Rely On Will Power - When you first start a diet your motivation for the task in hand is often very high because you are desperate and maybe excited for change. This initial high can quickly wane especially with the pressures of everyday life.

3. Diets Make You Feel Deprived - Research has shown that no matter what size you are diets make you crave for the foods you are trying to avoid and make you feel deprived because you can't eat what you want to.

4. Diets Only Work For As Long As You're On Them - Diets are boring! Most people get pretty fed up with the strict eating plans. When you stop dieting you tend to eat the food you had been deprived of, and because of that you tend to eat more of them and end up being bigger than when you started.

You are probably familiar with a couple, if not all of these feelings associated with diets. Dieting is a slippery slope and if you trip up along the way, you are certain to be back where you started if not worse off.

When your been charged by the hour, that's great for them, not so great for your wallet.

This led to some specialized PC repair companies spring up that off a service that is know in the trade as nuke and pave. Rather than fix a specific problem, the important data is backed up, the drive wiped clean (wiping out the problems) and then windows gets a fresh install. This can be a great service, not as expensive but you do have usually have to have your PC taken away. Why? because to make money on such a low price the repair company wants to have a technician working on as many PCs at a time as possible. So they can set up a bench of 10 pcs or more and he can work his way through wiping and reinstalling.

Now imagine if you could do that for your self. I can already see the looks on your face at the though of backing all your data up, wiping the drive clean and then reinstalling windows. The software is very easy to use, even a novice can fix their PC from the comfort of their chair. No making appointments for a technician to come to you, repair your PC at your leisure, when it suits you.

ReImage is an online service so you have access to complete repairs 24 hours a day. How much would it cost you to have a repair company on stand by like that?

If you cannot get online to repair your pc you can download a free copy of their bootable CD builder that establishes Internet access from a damaged or broken PC. Once you access the Internet and log-in to ReImage , you can start the repair. Reboot after the repair, and the PC will be brought back to life again!

So what can it fix?

  • Virus and Spyware problems. ReImage can deactivate and remove viruses and spyware software including the notorious Antivirus 2009.
