Fact Sheet on Childhood Obesity

|

Our fact sheet on childhood obesity will focus on the basic statistics of childhood obesity, plus some of the usual causes and possible treatment of the problem. Scientifically, formal studies on obesity in children and adolescents have been done since the early eighties.

If we compare the statistics that have been collected and compare it to the current numbers we have now, it would appear that within only 30 years, the rate of obesity in children as young as six has already tripled. The risk of adult obesity increases with age; adolescent children who are overweight now have a seventy percent chance of remaining obese in their adulthood.

The cost of obesity in America

According to the National Academy of Sciences, the nineties were the tipping point in medical expenditure due to obesity. More than $125 million was spent on treating obesity and the conditions that came along with it. It has also been found that a lower socio-economic standing also contributed to the incidence of being overweight or being clinically obese in adolescent children.

How much exercise?

While there are many recommendations for how long exercise should be from so-called 'experts' in the field of weight loss and dietetics, it would be safe to follow the basic requirement: children below the age of 12 need at least 2 ½ hours of exercise per week to be healthy. Eating habits should also be improved in order to maximize the benefits provided by the regular physical activity.

Children above the age of 12 on the other hand, need more exercise to stay healthy. According to an online fact sheet on childhood obesity bearing US health guidelines, the recommended exercise for children 12 and above is at least 3 hours and 45 minutes per week. Because as a person grows older, his metabolism slows down, which is why any fact sheet on childhood obesity would recommend more exercise every few years to remain below the overweight category.

You can only imagine what kind of eating habits children have now, which is why it is imperative for every concerned parent to step in now to prevent obesity in their children, if it has not happened yet.

Childhood obesity should not be taken lightly; the problem will not 'go away on its own'. Obesity is not a phase that a child simply outgrows; it's medical condition that will get worse if nothing is done. Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are quite common to people who are obese, and diabetes does not pick its victims. Additionally, children as young as 5 can develop cardiovascular anomalies such as hypertension, and early onset of Atherosclerosis.

10 Ways You Can Help Others That Will Help You Too

|

Helping others when it is needed is a great way to give back as well as give to you. There's still something about the human spirit that drives many people to volunteer when other people need help. Here are 10 ways you can get out and help:

1. Volunteer as a reader to children at your local library. In the Los Angeles, as an example, they have people who do readings to young children. I did volunteer reading as part of a non-profit organization known as Reading to Kids.
2. Help out at an annual "Make a Difference Day" event. Every year across the United States, Make a Difference Day challenges communities to help out. Whether cleaning up a community or to raise money for an orphanage, you have the ability to make a difference.
3. Visit a nursing home or brighten the day of a hospice patient. I've done this and entertained the patients there with my puppets. I can tell you that they really enjoy it.
4. Take a CERT training class through your local fire department and volunteer to help out as part of a call-out team. CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team and was organized in the event of a major disaster. It's about communities being able to help themselves. I completed my CERT training through the Los Angeles Fire Department.
5. Be a mentor to a child. There are a lot of different mentor opportunities that you can do. If you're good with a computer, you can teach a low-income child how to use one. You might also want to help them with their homework.
6. Be a foster parent. Many children need good parents in times of crisis. Use your skills that you developed to help them on a temporary basis. If you are good with animals, then you might want to be a foster parent for a homeless cat or dog.
7. Feed the homeless. There are more and more people living on the street each year. Many of these are families. You have the chance to help feed some of these in your own community. Some churches help sponsor events - especially during the holidays.
8. Teach a class. Many years ago I taught my first volunteer class to middle school students as part of the DARE+ program. It's well worth it to provide your knowledge and experience and pass it on to children in your area.
9. Deliver a meal. There are many seniors who are unable to cook for themselves and many live alone. You can take a little time to deliver a meal to those that need it. Many times it's the only food they'll get all day.
10. Be a docent at a local museum. If you have some specialized knowledge that pertains to your local museum or even some insight, volunteering as a docent is rewarding to you and to those that visit.

Volunteering will help you to live longer, live happier, and make a difference in the lives of others. There are many more volunteer activities that you can do than is listed here. Go to VolunteerMatch.org for more information on how you can volunteer in your own area.

In fact, it is often a good idea to eat small snacks regularly throughout the day in order to stop your hunger getting to the point where you feel like eating large amounts of bad food.

Exercise to Grow Taller

|

If you are having problems with your height and you want to grow taller, you must not simply sit back. You have to work hard to exercise to grow taller. There are people who are whining about their short height and they just keep on whining but not doing anything about it. If you want to grow taller all you have to do is to exercise. Why? Because being active will also boost the secretion of your human growth hormone that is necessary for you to increase your height.

What does exercising can contribute in your chances of increasing your height? Well, studies have it that if you have an active metabolism due to exercising a lot, your body will keep on producing and secreting human growth hormone. By this it means that exercise coupled with proper diet can really make you grow taller. The old thinking that the growth of a person stops at the age of 18 is not true. Although age slows down growth, it does not mean that it stops. You just have to work hard for your to grow more.

Here are the exercises that you need to do if you really want to grow taller:

Swimming. As I often puts it, you have got to swim your way to a taller and new you. Have you ever wondered or noticed how swimmers seem to have longer bodies? Well, they really do have longer bodies which means that they are taller than any other individuals. Swimming, as other perceived it, is something that could really stress. You need to live a stress-free life because stress can prevent you from growing taller. Swim often and at the end of the day, you will be an inch taller. Do this activity at least 3 times a week for an even better result.

Do Regular Back Stretch. If you want to grow taller and if you have been exercising a lot lately, you have got to focus on giving your self a good back stretch. This is because even if you want to grow taller you still have to ensure that you are still in a good posture. If you have a bad posture, being tall will be a big problem for you. So do some back stretching by grabbing your hands from the back. After which bend forward while keeping your arms straight.

10 Steps From Depression to Career Transition - And Life Change

|

If you're feeling worn out and frustrated as you try to re-invent yourself or transition your career, have faith. It isn't going to kill you.

So much of the re-invention process comes down to making the decision to play to win - then positioning yourself to actually do it.

10 Steps from Depression into Career Transition

1. Get dressed in the morning. Look good. Feel good so you can deliver.

2. Exercise. Do you stop exercising because you get depressed or do you get depressed because you stopped exercising? Do whatever you need to do in order to keep your depression at bay. Take your meds. Pray. Take care of yourself so you are able to deliver at your greatest level of performance.

3. Take charge of your brain. If you put negative in, you get negative out. Put positive in, get positive out. You have tremendous power to control what you are thinking and, when you start hearing the negative tapes, just give yourself a verbal "Stop" cue. Deliberately replace your negative thoughts with something positive. It's easier if you have a list of five positive things to go to for those low moments. For example, "I've been so successful in the past. I'm smart enough to get through this."

4. Know that these tough times will not last forever. As much as it feels like you are sinking into a bottomless pit of quicksand, you aren't. Don't let yourself slide into the mentality that says you may never get another job, that you may never make as much as you once made, that you will have to work until the day you die. All that does is make you struggle more.

5. Remember who you are and who you are not. I see a lot of people who experience rejection and then process it as failure. They forget how talented and viable they are, so it becomes harder to project themselves as desirable. That poises them for more rejection. You have not lost your talent. And your setbacks have not erased your successes. They are just obstacles. You have succeeded in the past and you will succeed in the future.

6. Choose your friends carefully. If you surround yourself with hopeless people, you'll lose hope. This can be hard if most of your friends are former co-workers who were also laid off. And, that can be even worse if you are competing for the same jobs against your friends. You'll constantly wonder why someone got an interview or job that you didn't. For the time being, be around people who will propel your success.

7. Network. Duh. We've all heard "It's not what you know but who you know." Well, it is also how you know them. Don't network to make business connections. Network to make relationships. It is more important that you know that somebody likes to watch Grey's Anatomy and loves pizza with anchovies than it is that you know their job description. Make important people fall in love with your personality and leverage those friendships so they take care of you professionally.

8. Listen. What are you supposed to do with your life? The universe will send you many prompts. Great turning points often present themselves in passing.

9. Don't limit yourself to the classifieds. Executives are constantly asking other executives, "Do you know anyone who can..." They don't want to advertise jobs because they don't want 8,000 resumes. Network, network, network. Figure out where you want to work, then start writing key people to introduce yourself. There is a lot more on this in my book, Finding the UP in the Downturn.

10. Know your weekly goals and achieve them by setting daily tasks. Then, DO THEM. Do something every day to move you closer to your goal. Whether you spend time networking or writing letters or taking classes or attending job fairs, do something to keep yourself in the game.

The most important thing is to have faith. Things will work out. I am not being flip. I am not shrugging off your pain or uncertainty. Things do have a way of working out. I don't want to minimize anybody's suffering or delude myself into thinking that hope conquers all, but the truth is that there are very few of you who will wind up eating out of garbage cans. There's so much you can't control, so give it to the wind.

What is the Best Weight Loss Pill

|

Trying to lose weight can be hard when combined with today's hectic lifestyles. Eating the right kind of foods at the right times can often be impossible, with most of us having to grab food on the go, often leading to poor choices.

Most dieters complain that they don't have enough time to go to the gym, exercise, and prepare healthy meals.

This may be the reason behind the boom that the diet pill industry is currently experiencing. Sales of the best weight loss pills are nearly 3 times higher than in recent years.

There are also changes in attitude to the actual types of diet supplements that we buy, with best selling fat burners now left on the shelf in favour of natural fat binders and appetite suppressants.

Fat Burners have received a lot of negative press as of late, with the FDA banning a number of popular fat burning formulas due to potentially fatal side effects. Hydroxycut was the latest casualty, stemming from an investigation into the death of a US teenager.

Prescription weight loss pills are not following the same trend however, with sales down on average during 2009. It seems that over-the-counter is far more convenient, and in most cases safer than prescription drugs.

The general consensus when looking for the best weight loss pill is to choose natural. Supplements which contain either Hoodia Gordonii - a potent natural appetite suppressant, or Prickly Pear extract - known to eliminate 28% of fat from your regular meals, prove by far to be the most popular. Both are clinically proven to help you lose weight, and have no reported side effects.

The hard part is finding quality weight loss pills which contain genuine amounts of these ingredients.

How to Choose a Gift For Your Dear?

|

One of the best presents for a loved one is the refined and stylish jewelry. Probably, you will not find a girl who can resist the temptation of a beautiful necklace, delicate bracelet, or a string of beads, bringing out the color of her eyes. However, if you want your gift to be truly personal, you need to choose a hand crafted item.

Handicraft helps create unique, one of a kind pieces: if an article has not come off a production line, and is made by one person from start to finish, it becomes more personal and more valuable to an owner. A creator puts a part of his soul into every masterpiece and his labor results in an item that is not only exquisite but also is pride of an artist.

In the modern world, romanticism is valued very highly. Romanticism is a component that is in short supply in many a relationship. Hand crafted pieces of jewelry are the gifts that add warmth to our lives and brighten feelings, described in the most beautiful love-stories.

Any object that has come off a production line becomes one of many. Even if you do not see the second copy of this object ever in your life, you still know that it exists and that your piece of jewelry is just one of a lot. The production line assembly deprives bijouterie of charm and certain mysterious and desirable aura, which is a must for jewelry. Will you want to give simply a necklace, a bracelet or a string of beads as a present for your beloved? It will be more pleasant for both of you, if a gift becomes not simply an ornament, but a treasure with its own history, distinct features and a small mystery. Such a gift can turn into a really memorable heirloom, be passed down from generation to generation, and become imbued with romantic histories.

To understand the importance and attractiveness of hand crafted jewelry let us look into history. At primordial times, when hides were worn instead of clothes, men already were presenting different nice ornamentations to women. In the Ancient World and in the Middle Ages a quality of work and nuances of production of a certain master played a very important role. Jewelry was a language of human relations. Looking at rings on one's fingers people could determine the rank of a person who stood before them. Bangles, necklaces and gorgets played another role: they protected a possessor from wicked forces. An ornament of handiwork presented as a gift was not only an expensive thing, but a message, telling about the internal world and feelings of a giver. We offer you the best decorations, which can become wonderful gifts for the people you love. To present decoration of handiwork to your dear is the same as to write her a flaming love letter.

Not only is handmade jewelry a magnificent personal gift but also a unique object. In fact, in the whole wide word a second such thing simply does not exist. Execution by hand and the highest quality make each article a real masterpiece of art, which does not have any parallels.

Simple Tips to Be Happy

|

Several Factors to Happiness

How is one reaching a state of happiness? There are several factors leading to this state. First crucial detail to know: Do not expect happiness coming from what you "will" have, what you "will" do or where you "will" be. Happiness doesn't ever come "to" you. It comes "from" you! It is interesting how by the simple thought of "feeling happy" attract happy people, interactions, events, surprises, and so on. Why and how is this happening? It does for several reasons.

Here are the main reasons why and how we all become happy.

* Be Grateful!

Someone said, "I don't get up of bed until I have a tear of gratitude rolling down my cheek.

Look around you. Look at what you already have. It may not seem like much, but I guarantee you that if you have a computer, you are probably having already a pretty good life. Look at your job. If you have a job, it is already a blessing. Look at you family. Look at your wife when she prepares you something to eat. Notice when she smiles at you and at your children. Look at your children and how they laugh so happily. They are a song to the world. Now look at yourself. Are you overall healthy?

Do you have your senses? Can you see, hear, feel, taste, and smell the world around you? Having a healthy body or mainly healthy is a blessing we often take for granted. Look at your possession. Do you have a nice place? Do you have a nice house? Do you have a patio or a garden? Do birds sing in the morning? Did you know that in most of the places in the world, except in the middle of the ocean, you can hear birds singing it the morning? Isn't it also a blessing? Do you have a nice park not too far where you can take a walk from time to time? By the way, this also will increase your level of happiness: walking.

Accept others

Too often are we not accepting others the right way? Take a moment and watch others interacting without being critical. We are all, after all cousins! Did you know that at one point in time, there were only a few talking human beings on earth? Try to be open-minded and accept others. It is a blessing not to be alone! Look at the good side of your community. You are not alone if you accept others in your life. You want to have friends? Be a friend.

Why should we give?

I want to talk about something very important right here. If you see a poor man heading out his hand, do you avoid him; do you look at him unfriendly, and so on? Try to find in your heart to give him a dollar. And you know why? You and others will benefit for this Act or Random Kindness. Scientists have found that if you give something from your heart or help someone, you release serotonin.

When the serotonin level gets high, you feel better, your immune system is stronger, if you are sick you heal quicker, and you become happier, of course! But it doesn't stop right here! In fact, still supported by science, people witnessing you giving or helping someone will have their own serotonin level shooting up! They will feel better, healthier, and heal faster! And of course, the poor man will also have his serotonin level climbing and feel better, happier, and healthier! Just for a dollar you have become happier, and make others feel better! Buy the way, when you give with your mind and heart, not because you have to. Try to smile to the poor and say a nice word like "here brother, good luck to you"

*feel happy

Feeling happy is something you train yourself to be. Happiness is in the journey, not the destination! Walk happily, feel happily, and be thankful for even a slight little progress in your life, a small improvement. There is a great trick to boost your energy level for happiness. Sit down, take a paper and pencil, and write down all the improvement in your life. What is new, what is better, what you did for your last vacation, who did you meet in the library or party or the gym, and go on writing until you feel you jot down the most of that for the last six months.

Now repeat the process for the last 12 months, 2 years, 3 years and as far as even 10 years or even 20 years...you will see what you have accomplished and feel like on the top of the world guaranteed! By the way try to-do this as often as possible. We all take too many things for granted.

Conclusion

So now you can see that there are hundreds of reasons to smile laugh and sing in your life. I hope I brought you good stuff for you to think about and live your life happier. But the way, try to make a habit to hum or sing from time to time. And when you are happy, go ahead and dance on one leg! Try it, right now, there also a new discovery for me: laughing yoga. This thing comes from India. People get together to laugh! Not always with a reason to do so, they even force themselves to laugh! Google laughing yoga, go on You-Tube! It I insane but you know what it works!

Student Loans, Bankruptcy, and You

|

Higher education in the United States is expensive: even in-state tuition at public universities can mean several thousand dollars a semester. Tuition at elite private universities and liberal arts colleges regularly runs as high as $25,000 per semester. This even before considering housing, food, fees, and course materials.

One of the most common ways of paying for an education is to take out student loans. Most students will incur some amount of debt. Generally only by way of scholarships, need-based grants, deep-pocketed parents, and the like can educational debt be avoided. Consequently an entire industry has developed around applying for, issuing, and collecting on these loans.

Most people, however, find that the education they received was worth the cost. With very few exceptions, a bachelor's degree will substantially improve your employment and salary outlooks. Over time this increase in wages can more than make up the cost of an education.

But this generally only happens over time. Immediately after graduation, many find themselves suddenly burdened with tens of thousands of dollars in debt-even running into the hundreds of thousands at some institutions.

If this sudden debt is met with financial difficulty due to unemployment, unforeseen costs like medical bills, or anything else that can strain a bank account, the impact on a graduate's finances can be grave. Beginning a post-collegiate career with debt is stressful enough; extenuating circumstances like the above can cause trouble for decades to come.

To make repayment of loans comparatively easier on students, several programs have been made available. It's possible, for example, to take out loans via government agencies. Very often government loans are fixed-rate. Many find fixed rates desirable because they facilitate planning: each month, the loan will accumulate interest at such-and-such percent. Variable-rate loans are by nature less predictable, and this uncertainty can sometimes exacerbate the stresses of loan repayment.

In addition, government loan rates often have lower interest rates than comparable private loans. With the exception of grants and certain loans, government-facilitated loans are usually in cooperation with private lenders. As these are government-backed loans, the rates tend to be lower than private loans issued by the director directly.

In certain instances, it's even possible to get government loans that are completely interest-free. Some loan plans even allow you to defer repayment for varying lengths of time, such as after graduation, or even after graduate school.

Even still, government loans are loans all the same and require repayment. If you've found that student loans are placing a burden on you that you are currently unable to handle, there are steps you can take. Loan consolidation services are available that will help you combine your loan repayments into an easier-to-manage repayment plan.

If such measures still fall short, not all hope is lost. There may come a point at which bankruptcy becomes a good option. Bankruptcy isn't something to be embarrassed about, particularly in today's volatile economy. There are many bankruptcy protection laws in place to make the process less destructive on your financial well-being.

Computer Components and the Importance of the Case

|

For those who prefer to design and build their own computers from scratch, the internal features that comprise the system's operating power are but one of the considerations that go into the design and planning process. The casing is another of the important computer components that cannot be overlooked. Not only does it cover your CPU, motherboard, and other essential elements - it also provides protection and aesthetics for what would otherwise be an open collection of sensitive parts.

There are a wide variety of cases available to house your computer components, most of which are based on the industry's ATX standard for size and layout for housing motherboards. Since all of your computer components will be housed within the casing, it can easily be considered the backbone of your computer system. When choosing a case, there are some important considerations you need to make.

Those considerations include the number of expansion bays, and ease of access. Expansion bays are the slots in the front of the casing through which you can access various removable drives like a DVD or DC-Rom drive. If you plan on upgrading your system throughout its life, you will want to ensure that you have an excess of expansion bays to accommodate future drive additions. The ease with which you can access the internal components is an important factor, as it will determine how easily you can perform anticipated upgrades, as well as perform regular cleaning to remove dust and dirt.

How your casing is laid out will indicate how efficient your computer's fans are at keeping the internal computer components cool - thus reducing or eliminating the cause of most computer freezes and crashes. In addition, casings with quality filters over the fan area can help to eliminate dust and other particles that can contribute to excessive heat.

As you can see, the casing for your computer is one of the most critical computer components you can buy. Taking the time to choose the right case can go a long way toward ensuring that your custom designed computer has a long and efficient life.

Student Career Research - 4 Key Points to Consider!

|

If you're a current or prospective student, wondering what on earth you could possibly do with the course you're on, or planning to take, then you're certainly not alone.

There are, however, a few key points that can make the process a little simpler, and if you're in the throes of student career research, here are our top 4 key points to consider:

1. It's Not All About Money
Sure, money is nice. Better than nice in fact - it's fantastic! But the truth is, if you don't love, or at least like, your chosen career, you're never going to be happy, and if you're not happy, you're never going to excel!

Also, remember that it's a tough economy out there, and while salary survey statistics can help, they are an average, and even if that is the average going rate, you might end up earning considerably less than that - unless you're a top achiever that is!

2. Growth Potential
Choosing a career is a little like buying stocks - you're deciding now, while gambling on future developments. Yes, you're making an educated guess, but it is a guess nonetheless. Of course, some fields, like medicine and law are always in demand, if your field is a little less stable than that, you will need to do your homework! Investigate the industry, and opportunities. Try to imagine your career plan - where you want to go, and how you'll get there.

3. Lateral Opportunity

Try to look for careers that offer you a little lateral leeway, should things not always run smoothly in your career. Look for careers that offer entrepreneurial possibility, or the possibility of consulting. Consider other possible career moves, such as teaching, or maybe something related to your field. Planning for the worst, and hoping for the best, is about the best you can do in these tough economic days, and if you can find a career that offers more than one option for earning, you might just have a winner.

4. Cost
There are thousands, if not millions of people out there who would love to study something, but simply lack the funds. It's a sad fact of life, but a fact nonetheless. When you choose a career path, try to be realistic! If you don't have a healthy college fund, or a scholarship, you may have to lower your ideals a little. Don't give up completely, but just look for alternatives that suit you, and your situation.

Student career research is tricky, and it can feel like you're making a decision that will make or break your future. That's halfway true - many people have, however, been known to make complete career changes later on, so even if you do decide down the road that you want a change, that's always a possibility!

Another good idea is to look for internships, where you can spend some time in your chosen career before you make a final decision - try it before you buy it if you will. That, along with speaking to people already in that field, is a great way to make the choice a little easier!

If you are looking for a recession proof job then there is no better place to look than on the internet with the best online franchise available and become the next internet apprentice.

Laptops - How Hot is Too Hot?

|

How hot is too hot is a good question any laptop owner would like to hear the answer to. Basically, any machine that does work produces energy in many different forms, heat being one of them. When laptop computers function normally they also generate heat. As customers are demanding for faster and faster processors, engineers are pushed to produce faster and smaller components.

The problem is that when these small fast components are cramped into a tight compartment such as a laptop they generate a lot of heat which is not completely dissipated. However, the components of the laptop, the hard drive and the rest of the CPU are already manufactured to withstand these high temperatures. Most laptop computers without any functional issues can function optimally at temperatures up to 140 F (40 C). Different laptops have different processors and other components, but most can effectively function at temperatures ranging from 122 C to 140 C and can be pushed up to 74 degrees centigrade without impaired functions.

If your laptop is not overworked and the hard drive is not overloaded, the over heating problem could be due to the laptop not ventilating optimally. There are several problems that could cause this and they include obstruction of the air vents by the side of the laptop by books or pillows when using the laptop on the bed or it could be due to dust, animal hair or lint which gradually built over time and clogged the air vents. Simply blowing out this dirt with a dust blower should be able to reduce the heat by up to 5 degree centigrade or more.

However, even though the laptop could still work at these high temperatures without impaired functions, it might be a good idea to invest in a lap pad to protect yourself from skin burns and possibly fertility problems with prolonged use on your lap for a guy. A good cooling platform should allow you work with the laptop on your lap and also prevents the issue of the vents been blocked by pillows or what have you, when in use.

Before you begin your design project you will want to investigate which fish and plant life you plan on having in your indoor aquarium. After you have completed your research you will have a better understanding of which fish and plant life creatures can inhabit the same aquarium. You will also be aware of the conditions you will need to provide to such creatures that will ensure that your aquarium is a successful and healthy design effort.

After you have researched the requirements of the fish and plant life that you want to include in your aquarium it is time to choose the tank. Tanks come in a variety of shapes, sizes and styles. A good rule of thumb for your first aquarium design is to keep the tank between 20 and 30 gallons and choose a shape that is regular; this will make caring for your new aquarium much easier especially for beginners.

Depending on the size of the aquarium tank that you choose you may also need to purchase a stand. Stands also come in a variety of shapes, sizes and textures. When choosing a stand for your tank the most important thing to consider is weight, you need to make sure that the stand you choose will be able to hold the weight of the tank. A good rule of thumb is, every gallon of water equals 1o lbs of weight.

In addition to choosing an aquarium tank, you will need to consider what type of equipment you will be purchasing. Remember different types of livestock will require different types of equipment. Some of the equipment that you should familiarize yourself with when it comes to aquarium design is, water filtration systems, lighting systems, pumps, heaters and chillers.

Now that you are aware of the different challenges, you may chase when setting up your aquarium design you can better be prepared for having a successful aquarium.

How the Recycling System Works

|

The term recycling is used to describe an alternative form of getting rid of unwanted things. Recycling means that you are not putting all of your unwanted things into landfill sites instead the unwanted things are used to make new things. Recycling is possible nowadays due to the reduced amount of waste that goes into landfill sites and it is true to say that recycling is helping to bring down the prices of the material that are used to make things.

Almost everything can be recycled nowadays. Recycling has actually grown and expanded enormously and it is now possible to recycle anything including plastic, paper and batteries to name a few things.

The recycling plants take the waste that would have otherwise been put to the landfill. When waste is put into the landfill it takes years to break down and degrade. Recycle means that the life of a material can be continuous and its life may take many different forms over the years.

The recycled items can be used to make a wide range of different things. An old bottle top may not be used to make a bottle top again it may in fact be used to make a part for a car or even a child toy. As you can probably tell recycling goes a long way beyond the traditional uses and it explores the innovative ways, which make recycling very useful. There are some people that think about skip hire as a way of recycling.

It is vital nowadays to recycle and it would be true to say that it is a major component of responsible waste management. A lot of towns and cities have a recycling centre of some sort based within them.

The residents of the towns and cities are bale to leave their recycling items outside on set days and they centre will come along and pick the items up. Most places doe this pick up without charging as they see it as a benefit of recycling, however the person still has to separate all the different things.

Nowadays there are also a vast number of recycling bins where people are able to take their waste and put it into the appropriate bins so that it can be recycled. Due to this increased number of people that are recycling there is less people that are interested in skip hire as more and more shops have recycling bins. Here, customers are able to put unwanted plastic carrier bags and then these will be recycled and some of them will just be reused as carrier bags. Some shops also have bins for aluminium cans and then these go off to be recycled.

Recycling is really not a new thing but it is still fairly new for people to integrate it into every day life. Several years ago people would quite happily just dispose of everything in the one bin but people are understand more about the importance of recycling.

How to Stop a Divorce - Broken Trust

|

People decide to get a divorce for many different reasons. Lack of communication in the marriage, financial difficulties that aren't able to be resolved or perhaps there is a lack of trust. Whatever the reason may be, all marriages can be saved and the divorce can be stopped. Most of the time it's really worth giving your relationship another chance.

If one or the other partner was unfaithful, the relationship still can be saved. If you were the one that stepped outside your marriage vows, you need to own up to it and take responsibility. The last thing you should do is try to convince your spouse that you can change or that you won't ever do that again. Actions speak louder than words so your words have absolutely no meaning at this time.

If broken trust is the main issue, never break their trust again. Don't give them a reason to walk out of the relationship if you truly want to save your marriage. The main thing that needs to be done at this point is to prove to them that you can be trusted again. There is no overnight fix and it will take time so try to be patient. The ugly truth is that you don't deserve to be trusted at this point and you now are on the long road of having to build that trust back again.

There will be times I'm sure that the trust issues will still be brought up because it takes time to repair what has been broken. Don't argue the point or get mad about it because you did mess up and it's up to you to prove that you have changed and you are now a better person.

The best way to understand this situation is by putting yourself in their shoes. How would you feel if the roles were reversed? How hurt would you be and how willing would you be able to forgive and forget? It definitely wouldn't be an easy task to accomplish so you can't expect your partner to heal overnight. It may even take years to recover from broken trust but if you are willing to work on your marriage and repair the hurt you have caused, the end result will be worth the effort.

Another solution is to seek out friends or acquaintances that have been where you are who may be able to offer you some advice on how to stop a divorce. Getting outside help from different sources cannot only help you understand how to deal with this, but maybe provide you with other solutions you had not yet thought of.
Relationship advice can never hurt.

When trust is broken and you want to stop a divorce, seek as much help as you can find. This isn't a situation where you have to deal with this all alone.

What to Say on a First Date - For Men

|

So, there you are: sitting at a bar and trying to find what to say and what not to say on a date. Here is a list of things you should say on a date.

- Talk about things that are fun and light. Avoid any religion and politic talks. As a matter of fact you may want to avoid any long logic conversations as attraction feeds out of emotions and irrationality. This it doesn't mean that the date should look like a tour on Alice wonderland's, just avoid proving a mathematical theorem there and then.

- Compliment and tease. This technique first makes the girls feel nice and then adds a play fullness that makes the relationship very light. It builds a nice felling and then you take it away.

- Touch a lot. You must be always on the old motto, two steps forward, one step back. Don't escalate constantly but make two escalations and then take one back.

- Find commonalities or invent them if it is necessary. Music, films, trips, animals anything can be used about this.

- Talk about your dreams. The ones you had when you were young plus the ones you have now.

- Share stories that convey preselection by other women, leadership and protection of loved ones. Avoid any creepy or violent stories. And no, she doesn't want to know about what you did to enter in your fraternity.

- Offer roller coaster experiences. Do things that shake the girl and then offer her some good emotions back.

- Last but important. Change venues. As much as you can. This creates a yes ladder, a sort of building trust as the more she moves with you around, the more she trusts you and you will need that when you will find the two of you in bed.

The Truth About Hair Loss Surgery

|

You might disagree, but hear me out on this. Having a hair loss surgery to stop your receding hair line may not be a smart move. Let's find out why.

Many people with the problem of falling hair think of a hair loss surgery as the one and only solution to it. They spend thousands of dollars on this treatment which not only provides temporary results, but also does nothing to solve the root cause of the problem.

What is that? Glad you asked. Let's find out now why this hair loss happens in the first place.

In people with hereditary baldness, the Androgen hormone is converted into a substance known as Dihydrotestostrone (DHT) by enzymes. This DHT binds itself to the follicles in the scalp and prevents the oxygen rich blood from reaching them.

The lack of blood causes the follicles to shrink and lose their ability to produce new hairs. So when the old hairs fall off, there are no new ones to cover for them and take their place. This is what causes the hair to get thinner and ultimately leads to baldness.

This problem affects both men and women, and fortunately, has a single, easy solution.

That solution is to simply reduce the DHT content in the blood stream. There is really no need for expensive surgeries that can easily cost anywhere from $4000 to $20000 depending on the extent of your hair problem. These surgeries can also cause side effects like swelling on the scalp and eyes and can also cause the formation of cysts on the head.

Plus, the hair loss surgery would have to be repeated again in the future once the effects begin to wear off - it's not a permanent solution at all.

The Alternative
You can easily fix this problem by taking the FDA approved ingredient Minoxidil. It is very effective at inhibiting the DHT in the blood stream.

The reduced DHT enables the blood supply to the follicles which are once again able to produce healthy new hair. This is simply the best treatment you can get anywhere for falling hair.

Make no mistake about it. A hair loss surgery can set you back a huge sum of money without really solving your problem. Look for a better solution which doesn't cost the earth. Visit my website now for more information on how to do it.

Stopping Cat Fights

|

It is natural for kittens to have a little play fight every now and then. It is in them to learn this behavior. The trouble starts though when they become cats and the fights end up hurting them. Here are a few short tips to breaking up a cat fight.

Never step in between the cats while they are fighting. They don't know or care you are there. Take a broom and guide one cat into a room. This separates the two fight cats. After an hour check on the cat. If it is ready to eat then you know he or she is out of battle mode.

Don't have multiple cats in your home. If you have too many then they can't find a space to get away from the other cats.

Another good tip is to take a blanket and toss it on them. This is temporarily startling to them and possibly will stop the fight.

Never spray water on the cats. This doesn't stop the fighting. It only makes them wet and probably even more ready to fight.

Keep their clams trimmed. By keeping them trimmed down this will reduce injury to the cats and you too.

Finally the best tip to stop cat fighting is to get your cat spayed or neutered. This is known to not only control the pet population but also helps aggression in pets.

Sometimes the cats will just not get along. Especially when an older cat has been the main boss around the house for awhile and then a new cat is introduce. In the end you might have to consider giving one of the cats away to either a relative, friend, or the local shelter.

Make Recycling a Trend in Your Home

|

If you have kids in the home, letting them know how important recycling can be is extremely important. Whether you already have a strict recycling routine in your home or you're looking to up the ante to teach kids how imperative recycling is - you can use some of these tips to make recycling fun and convenient in your home.

• Let your kids decorate recycling bins for your kitchen or patio so that they can easily separate glass, plastic, paper, and aluminum. For younger kids, it will help them learn to differentiate between the different materials and older kids will learn which materials are recyclable and which ones aren't. By buying large, colorful plastic bins and allowing kids to write with sharpie marker on them what each bin is for - they'll feel like they truly took a part in getting your family to do the right thing and recycle.

• Keep a chalkboard near the recycling bin or bins in your home so that kids can mark down when they tossed a recyclable item in. Whether it's a soda can or some old papers from school, they can keep a tally on what they contributed. At the end of the month, you can tally everything up and then challenge kids to get an even higher number next month. Siblings can also use their natural rivalry to their advantage while giving back to their environment.

• Each month, plan a Saturday, Sunday, or day off of school to complete a recycling based craft project with kids. Instead of going out and purchasing craft supplies - use what you already have in the home. Let kids get creative and use their imaginations to their advantage. Whether they want to make a collage out of old newspapers and magazines for their room, or they want to decorate an old coffee can to store their treasures in - you can show them how easily you can turn trash into treasure. As a bonus, you'll save money by utilizing everyday household items instead of running to the toy or craft store for an afternoon project idea.

• Aside from actually recycling in the home, kids should realize that what recycling truly boils down to is a cleaner, greener environment. If your kids have shown a great interest in recycling and you'd like to take it a step further, getting kids into gardening can make them even more environmentally conscious. By helping them plant and maintain their own herb garden in the yard, they can grow all natural ingredients for your next family dinner. They'll be able to take on some true responsibility and have a sense of pride and accomplishment when the herbs are ready to be added into your next meal. Having an herb garden is not just a great project for kids, but you'll save yourself money and trips to the grocery store in the future!

• Finally, encourage your kids to find out what more they can do to help in their community. Many schools have started recycling efforts, so having kids talk to their teachers about recycling can help them stay informed about what their school is doing to help. Some communities have "clean-up" projects that always require volunteers. By participating in something like this with your kids, it will be a great bonding experience for the two of you, while making your community a cleaner, greener place to live.

Giving your kids the right ideas when it comes to recycling will be something that will benefit them for years to come. By teaching them the importance of recycling at a young age and raising them with these same standards, they'll be more likely to pass on the same ideas to their children. The environment isn't going to fix itself, so making sure kids are aware of the world around them will help parents raise a generation that truly cares about making the world a greener place. With concerns always growing about pollution, global warming, and the ozone layer - it's never been more important to think about reducing, reusing, and recycling in the home. By showing kids that recycling can be fun - you'll be paving the way for a happier earth.

Four Body Language Secrets

|

How would you like to learn how to read body language? People wouldn't be able to lie to you easily and you'd also understand people a lot more. Body language is unspoken, subtle yet so crucial to our everyday interaction with people as it cuts through barriers of communication and illuminates what others may be thinking and how they may act.

The trick to reading body language is to learn how to recognize the signals someone else is giving, and at the same time mask your scan of them so they don't detect what you are doing. How would you feel if you were being scrutinized? Uncomfortable? They would feel the same way too.

1. Eyes - Watch someone's eyes. If their pupils dilate, it usually means that person is interested. The eyes are the windows to the soul and you can tell a lot about someone if you know what to look for. Be careful though, the same signal can be interpreted in many different ways and depends on the context of the circumstances at the time. Pupil dilation could also mean that the subject is on drugs, or that they are very focused.

If someone's eyes are looking off to one side it is also a tell that they are feeling guilty, they may be lying to you at that point. Practise and perfect this tell, as once again, this may have many interpretations and meanings.

2. Hands - If they have open hands, they are likely to be more relaxed and comfortable. Hands talk, a lot, and generally open hands signal when someone is open and does not have raised defenses. Wherever you go in the world, someone approaching with a closed fist is a sign of aggression and trouble, whereas an open hand is always construed as a signal of peace and good intent.
When people get tense or nervous they will naturally start to close their hands, watch what happens to your hands the next time you watch a scary film or ride a roller-coaster.

3. Mimickry - If someone starts to mimic your body position when you are talking to them, they are comfortable in the situation and are likely to be interested in you or what you have to say.

It is usually easy to tell if someone is mimicking, or mirroring you with good intent. Sometimes this is done as a mockery and the context and feel of the conversation or interaction will be completely different. Again, practise and figure out how to identify the two different contexts of synergy and mockery.

4. Arms - There are two main expressions with the arms, they can either be open or folded. Folded arms mean that the person is likely to be defensive, angry or disapproving. Open arms are a signal that the person is being honest and also accepting of the situation he or she finds herself in.

Folded arms also a way of forming a barrier, defensive or otherwise between them and yourself. Bouncers in nightclubs often stand with folded arms when they're blocking doorways or otherwise trying to assert themselves.

Is it Correct to Judge a Book by Its Cover?

|

Everyone has heard of the proverb "never judge a book by its cover", but how many of us actually understand the true meaning behind it, and how many of us actually practice it? No matter how advanced our society has become, the ugly side still shows with our attitude and behavior.

I'm sure everyone has experienced the situation depicted by this proverb one way or the other. To further illustrate the meaning behind this proverb, I'll be sharing a story which had happened to a friend of a friend of mine.

With the recent economy crisis hitting countries all around the world, university graduates stepping into the working world had a tough time looking for a job. Shane, a very bright graduate, found himself in the middle of this struggle for job. Thus, he made the decision to further his studies, even with much opinion against this choice of path. While waiting for his admission into the university, Shane took up a part-time job as a cashier at a mini mart owned by one of his relatives.

On three separate occasions within this one working-month, a similar conversation took place. Patron asked, "Why are you wasting your youth working in this mini mart? Are you still studying?" Shane who had just graduated, and is still waiting for his admission, replied "No."

These patrons shook their heads, gave him a very demeaning stare and said, "What a waste! You should contribute to the society instead of wasting your time here." What classic examples of shallow people in our society.

Well, Shane is now doing his PhD and probably has a bright future ahead. We'll know soon enough.

As the old saying goes, never judge a book by its cover.

How Can I Get Permanent Weight Loss?

|

That's what I asked myself five years ago. I searched Google but did not find a single, meaningful answer to the question; how can I get a permanent weight loss? If you take a look yourself, you will see lots of promises about weight loss, even permanent weight loss, but all of them require you to count calories to lose weight. None of them can promise you won't put the weight back on again. Yet isn't that what a permanent weight loss means?

I have spent five years testing a a discovery I made back then. It has enabled me to stay slim for the past five years. Yet, for the thirty years prior to that, I had struggled, unsuccessfully, to lose weight for more than brief periods.

That has all changed. I not only look a lot better, I feel great and I cannot remember a time when I had more energy. What has made this change possible?

First of all, I discovered That Diets Do Not Work. Not ever. They can't work because they contradict nature. That applies no matter how convincing or how healthy a diet sounds, it will not work.

You were not designed by nature to diet, and the moment you start to count calories, you have already defeated yourself. You see, our body was created with built-in weight control, which nature designed to help adjust and keep our weight stable. The moment we start to mess with calorie charts and food groups we are eating foods we were not designed to eat and we are depriving our body of the very food it needs to perform the tasks we always depended on it to do in the past.

We effectively send our body famine messages which ultimately interfere with the body's natural mechanism.

Most of us, who have dieted several times, have reached a point when we have lost the ability to control our weight. The result is, we have had to rely on 'experts' to advice us how to lose weight and the 'experts just happen to be the creators of the very same diets which have caused our problems in the first place.
It is not possible to lose weight on a diet for long. Very soon we are destined to put the weight right back on again. Each time we try, we put on more weight than we had when we began. At least the body still knows how to protect itself, even if it is for the wrong reason.

You need to learn how to sort this out because it is not going to get better till you do. What I have learned really should have been discovered long go, by a professional. It should have come from a scientist or a medical research facility and I waited five years for that to happen. When it didn't and when I heard we now have an obesity epidemic, I realized I had to do something. So I wrote down everything I had learned.

Anyone who knows my story will understand why this has happened, how we can stop it and how we can reverse the process. We need to make sure our body can once again function as nature meant it to do.
If this all sounds too fantastic, ask anyone who was an adult forty years ago. They can tell you that back then most people were slim. Slim Was Normal. Ongoing weight problems were rare and usually caused by a medical condition like thyroid or diabetes.

In those days slim people were by far the majority. Type2 diabetes had never been heard of and obesity was an abnormality. Today, most people, some sixty percent, are clinically overweight. No one believes that this problem is NOT going to get worse with each year that passes.

The greatest tragedy is that it is no longer a problem confined to the individual. It has become a generational problem and a 'family problem'. Our children now inherit our lifestyle along with the weight.

Working From Home and Your Health

|

Just because you decide to work from home doesn't mean you don't have to look after your health.

Did you think that because you can sit in bed and do your work you can afford to get sick? Think again. Now more than ever, you have to take proper care of yourself.

When you were working for a boss, you had sick leave. They paid you when you were sick. Now, if you don't work, you don't earn any money. If you're lucky, you may have passive income to fall back on when you are not well enough to work but most work- from -home people, especially those just starting out, need to work.

How can you look after your health? You need to eat healthy food, exercise every day and get a good eight hours sleep every day. That sounds easy, doesn't it?

You need at least thirty minutes of exercise every day. It's not hard to go for a brisk walk once a day. You could try walking the dog or going for a walk with a friend. It doesn't even have to be a walk as long as you get you heart pumping for half an hour.

Swimming is an excellent form of exercise too.

You should pay attention to what you eat as well. Sitting at the computer for most of the day can encourage you to snack on junk food and drink to many soft drinks or coffees.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are better for you and not fattening. Carrot or celery sticks are a good snack. Choose these instead of junk food and you will stay healthy.

Getting out with friends is vital to your health. Socialising is important to people and it will help you stay healthy.

Don't go out too often or stay out late all of the time. You still need your eight hours of sleep each day.

If you're searching for a good deal on a secured loan, it pays to know where to look. Finding the best rates can make a noticeable difference to your monthly outgoings - but with so many deals on offer, it can be difficult to keep track.

Explaining secured loans
If a loan is 'secured', it means that your home is a form of 'safeguard' against the deal. Because lenders consider this type of loan a lower risk than unsecured loans, you will often have access to lower interest rates and a longer repayment period. Because the loan is secured against your home, failing to make repayments could ultimately result in your home being repossessed (although this is generally a last resort). But as long as you're sure you can keep up with your repayments, a secured loan could be a great way of raising some additional funds.

How to find the best secured loan deals - There are a number of things you can do to get yourself one step ahead in the loans market.

Do your research
Taking the first deal you come across is rarely a good idea. It's easy to get a rough idea of the rates that each lender is offering - either online or on the high street. Take special care to find out whether there are any catches - some of the interest rates advertised may not apply to the amount you are borrowing, for example. Also be aware that the rate you are offered will largely depend on your credit history, so if your credit history is not perfect, you may end up paying a little more than advertised.

Take your time
Don't necessarily expect to take out your new loan the very same week you start looking. It's often a good idea to set aside some to search the market to ensure that you are aware of what deals various lenders are offering.

Get free loans advice
Speaking to an expert loans adviser can often make a real difference. Since they will have information on a range of lenders at any given time, your loans adviser can easily compare the best deals for your circumstances.

Blue Screen After Start Up - How to Fix

|

What can be more annoying than to have an error message at the very beginning of your computer usage? You would rather have a busted electrical outlet than to continuously have to endure the blue screen after start-up. And how can you possibly guess the problem if the blue screen is followed instantaneously by a black screen while it reboots? It is as if the computer doesn't want to be fixed at all.

Before you get too furious, you should be thinking of ways on how to read that error message that goes with the blue screen before the computer restarts automatically. If you are able to click some buttons first before the blue screen of death pops up again, make sure that you have unchecked the automatic restart option under the Start Up Settings. So with that, you will have ample time to read what the error message actually is before it reboots. Knowing the exact error will help you get to the root cause of the problem instead of second guessing the error which only wastes your time while your computer is in critical condition.

Having the blue screen immediately after the start up, means that there must be something wrong with your installations. Since it doesn't happen when the system gets overloaded when you open too many programs, you can start isolating the problem. Once you see the real problem as indicated in the error screen, then you can check online on how to fix it.

If it is not as big of a problem as you think it is, it can probably be resolved easily by running a Startup Repair or by System Restore Utility. Again it can be as effortless as running an anti-virus check or cleaning the registry. And it might just be the power source that has the problem that's why it keeps on rebooting. Check all possible causes from the most obvious before you delve into the trickier aspect of the problem.

Having the BSOD at the very beginning of your computer operation may be a little harder to resolve. And most likely, the blue screen of death has already happened before at random times during a computer operation that you were able to fix by a simple system reboot. If you have not tried any other means to correct the error like cleaning the registry, running system and anti-virus checks; then the glitch has obviously gotten worse. Rebooting is as good as ignoring the problem and merely hoping that the computer will eventually forget the problem. However, this quick fix may have already caught up with your system. If this is the case, then the rebooting solution has reached its end and it might be better for you to consult a computer technician to correct the problem and salvage your computer from an impending death.

The lesson here is to get the best solution even for the simplest dilemma. You cannot fool the computer too long. Besides, unlike human who can hide their true feelings like the frustration that you feel right now with gritted teeth, computers are not designed that way. The system will falter eventually when not fixed and it can only give you this much evidence like a blue screen that the system is suffering. You better tackle the problem from the start before the computer suffers an untimely death.

The Meaning of Eye Contact

|

One of the most powerful body language tools that a human being has is one of the subtlest movements we can make - Eye Contact (since this phrase is used a lot in this post, I have abbreviated "eye contact" to EC). The energy it takes to shift your eyes from one place to another or lock your eyes in place with another person's eye is little to none. It can be effortless or can be as fast as a blink of an eye; yet, it shows a lot about one's character.

Traditionally speaking, EC is more prevalent in western cultures. For example, in America, it is a sign of respect when one makes dirt EC when talking to an superior person such a boss or the president, while in Japan or China, it would be a sign of disrespect if one were to look directly at a superior in the eye such as the emperor or even, in some common cases, an elderly person.

People who have grown up in western cultures have learned to use EC as a sign of being friendly, polite, acknowledging one's presence, while people who eastern cultures are more cautious of how EC is use. Stereotypically and traditionally speaking, you will see more westerners use EC while easterners will tend to shy away from it and not use EC as much.

However, as times are changing fast and the meaning behind EC is now being universalized. EC nowadays, isn't as dependent on the cultural upbringings as it once used to, and more or less, just depends on the type of person they are or the person's personality.

Even though there can cultural differences in EC, EC is one the most basic, fundamental traits of human beings. That is to say that everybody, whether you are from Los Angeles, California to Taipei, Taiwan, understands, to some extent, what EC means on a fundamental level. Here are some examples that I thought of that most people can relate to.

Looking Away from Somebody

This happens to everybody every single day out in public. Two people are within the proximity of 10 feet of each other. One person will look at the other person, until he or she is caught. Then immediately the person who is caught will look away. They might look up, down, or something that's not even there just to escape being looked at again. Then, when the other person looks away, this person who was caught might look back at them.

Even though both people here do not make EC with each other, but both people definitely feel that the other person is looking at them. The presence is there, even though nothing is being said. This is socially acceptable when one is just passing by for a moment or will be gone in a couple of minutes. It's not that bad.

But when stuck in the same room (such as a classroom) where you are in front of a person, then looking back and forth will cause awkward tension. The key to breaking this tension when in this condition is basically starting up a conversation, even if it's about nothing, because it is better than having awkward EC games.

Staring at Someone

When one makes EC and stares at someone, this could be deadly body language. It also really depends on who is in play here. If a man stares at a woman, this might really creep her out. She will most likely feel the need to leave. If a man stares at another man, the man who is being stared at might feel "threatened" and stare back at the first man, resulting in a staring down contest. This usually brings out unwanted tension which might break out into a fight.

Try not to stare at someone because it may come off rude, inappropriate, and even cause friction between you to. However, if you know them pretty well, such as two lovers staring back at each other for fun, then go for it.

Making EC and Smiling

Not a lot of people can pull this off because they are shy or do want to risk the feeling of not being looked back. However EC plus smile shows the sign of a confident person, but most importantly, it sends out a energetic, positive vibe, to the person who receives this on the other end. They will really have no choice but to make EC back and smile back, and if they do, usually you guys will start out on good terms.

Making EC while Talking
Not talking while making EC is weird in my opinion. But making EC while talking shows confidence and a sense of release in tension. Also, while talking to another person, people don't like it when the other person looks away or doesn't look back at them. It sort of a sign of disrespect and sure won't land you a good score at that job interview.

So, while holding EC with a person, talk to them. You also build a more intimate relationship with them ranging anywhere from dating, building a bond between friendships, or involving yourself with people at work.

Here Are Ten Random Tips on EC

1. If you're going to talk to somebody for the first time, be sure to make EC from the start.

2. Looking at a person's eyes, with a dose of friendliness shows a sign of trust and sincerity.

3. Looking a person's eyes means that you're giving them your undivided attention and showing them that you respect them at some level, and if you were talking to them, you would want them same kind of attention and respect back as well.

4. Don't hold EC for too long as it might creep someone out or make them feel uncomfortable. Look away from time to time, even if it's at the nearest wall, to make communication seem more natural.

5. If you're shy and have a hard time holding EC with somebody, a trick to do is to look at their nose or mouth while they are speaking.

6. Showing EC means you are also showing interest in the person, which can build into rapport and form a strong relationship quickly.

7. Don't stare at someone that you don't know if you don't intend to talk to them.

8. You can tell if a person is lying from their EC because it is harder to lie and look at somebody straight in the eyes.

9. You can also distinguish what kind of person they are from their EC - shy, confident, aggressive, cocky?

10. Finally, this is twofold, but if you wish to talk to somebody you don't know, glancing at them first and waiting for them to acknowledge you with their glance will show that you are interested in talking to them. They will feel this and if they are relaxed about it, it would make access to going up to them more comfortable to doing something like saying, "Hi!"

Mercury in Seafood

|

Seafood is not only delicious but very nutritious as well. Fish and shellfish are low in saturated fat while containing the healthy omega-3 fatty acids. In addition, they have many other nutrients that keep us strong and promote healthy development. However, fish also contains mercury which is can be dangerous to our health. Most people do not need to worry about the trace amounts of mercury and can eat seafood without concern. However, the bodies of little children can be harmed. Mercury damages the developing nervous system. As a result the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as well as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), advises women who may become pregnant, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and young children to avoid certain types of fish that are higher in mercury.

Mercury is a naturally occurring element in the environment. It enters the air via industrial pollution and falls into lakes and streams. When mercury enters the water it turns into methylmercury. This is the type of harmful mercury that can be harmful to little bodies. All fish absorb the methylmercury. However, some absorb more mercury than others. Therefore, depending upon what fish you eat, the levels of mercury will vary.

Mercury builds up in an adult's bloodstream and overtime the body processes it. Before you become pregnant, it is important to avoid food with mercury, so that your body has time to cleanse itself. This way, when you conceive, the baby will have a healthy environment in which to thrive.

By selecting certain fish and shellfish, women and children are able to still enjoy the nutritional benefits of fish while reducing their exposure the mercury. Swordfish, Shark, King Mackerel, and Tilefish all contain high levels of mercury and therefore, should be avoided. However, shrimp, canned light tuna, Pollock, salmon, and catfish are all low in mercury. Be careful not to confused light tuna with albacore tuna. Albacore tuna contains higher levels of mercury. The local authorities will have information about how safe the fish caught in your area is. This will help you know how much you can eat. If you are unable to find advice, don't eat more than six ounces per week. For children, the size should be proportionally less.

Take Quick Action If You Have These Diabetic Symptoms!

|

Those early warning signs that something is not quite right with your body ... how much are they bothering you? You may have seen your health care provider and he has not been able to see these symptoms could be an indication you are heading towards type 2 diabetes. Maybe you are in the early phase of insulin resistance, or pre-diabetes, where you are feeling tired for no obvious reason. To help you see what is going on, ask yourself the following questions which may show you have diabetic symptoms:

1. Physical Signs. Do you have:

  • love handles?
  • a pot belly or belly fat?
  • a waist measurement 40 inches (100cm) for males, 35 inches (90 cm) for females?
  • the need to urinate frequently, even during the night time?
  • have a dry mouth and feel dehydrated?
  • experience frequent heartburn?
  • blurriness in your vision even if only for a few minutes?
  • tingling or "pins and needles" in your hands or feet? Commonly occurs during the night.
2. Energy Clues. Are you:
  • tired after finishing a meal?
  • feeling tired in general. Do you wake up feeling tired, or feel fatigued in the afternoon?
  • a fuzzy thinker a lot of the time?
  • irritable when you don't eat on time, you become cross?
3. Medical History. Do you:
  • have high cholesterol or triglyceride levels?
  • have a close family member with type 2 diabetes (parent, or grandparent)?
  • know if your mother had gestational diabetes?
  • know your birth-weight. Were you less than 6lbs or more than 9lbs?
  • have high blood pressure?
4. Eating Habits. Do you:
  • snack often?
  • feel hungry shortly after eating a meal?
  • have food cravings especially for sweet foods?
  • have several sugary drinks each day?
  • eat out or have fast-food several times a week?
Do you know it has been predicted that 50% of people will be pre-diabetic in just a few years. Being overweight, insulin resistant, or diabetic, increases your risk of dying of any cause at a younger age. Initial symptoms may seem minimal, high blood sugar levels and type 2 diabetes can, in the long run, make your life miserable.

If you find you are experiencing any of the above diabetic symptoms, do not hesitate to contact your health care provider. He will organize the testing of your blood sugar levels to confirm whether you have insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes.

You can try to forget about your symptoms and do nothing at all, maybe hoping it will all go away. Or you can learn about all the factors that have led you to type 2 diabetes. The more you learn the more you will be in control of your body.

How to Use Simple Secrets For Natural Healing of Any Diseases

|

Yes, my belief that you can heal yourself of any diseases by taking charge of what you "put" into your body to strengthen your immune system has been reiterated by this article which I have read. This article is written by a Chinese doctor Tom Wu who has been diagnosed with advanced stages lung cancer when he was 30 years old and was told that he has only a few months to live. But this happened 40 years ago and now Dr Tom Wu who is 70 years old is living a healthy life. Not only his cancer is completely gone, he has never had a cold or other illness for the past 40 years and he has revealed his secrets on how to heal yourself in his first book, Dr Wu's Principle of Natural Cures.

These secrets revolve around our own body system - the immune system which is already in-built within us to combat any bacteria or viruses which are attacking us and if we learn how to properly nourish and "exercise' our immune system, you have already discovered the core secret to good health.

Secrets to naturally heal yourself by taking charge of your immune system :

1.Exercise your bowel movements at least 3 times a day
Remove toxins from your body by having at lease 3 bowel movements every day.
According to Dr Wu, a bowel movement a day is not sufficient to remove the toxins but needs 3 to 4 bowel movements a day to excrete all of the accumulated faeces from your intestine and to reduce stress on your liver and build-up of cholesterol in your body. How do you ensure that you get these bowel movements, leads us to the next secret.

2.Have a diet of 6 glasses of fruit or vegetable smoothies daily
This has many benefits :
- Phyto-nutrients are easily ingested to nourish your body's cells and immune system. It is recommended to use the whole of the fruit or vegetable - flesh, skin, seeds as they are loaded with phyto-nutrients and most of the fruit seeds contain small amounts of cyanide which can kill bacteria and viruses without the harmful side effects.
- Provides sufficient fiber for the recommended 3 times bowel movements a day

The recommended time to drink your smoothie is 2 glasses in the morning, 1 before lunch, 2 in the afternoon and finally 1 more before dinner. However, to give time for your body system to adjust, start with at least 3 glasses a day.

Sources of fruits - green or red apples, grapes, berries, pineapples, kiwi, lime, papaya, banana
Sources of vegetables - celery, spinach, carrots
You can try other choice of your favorite fruits or vegetables.

3.Tan yourself under the sun for 30 minutes daily
Great news for suntan lovers and even better news as according to Dr Wu, do not cover your body with sunblock as we all need sunlight for adequate stores of vitamin D to strengthen our immune system. However, restrict this to only 30 minutes daily. Vitamin D is for preventing colds, osteoporosis and certain types of cancer. Combination of Vitamin A and D can maintain sound bones and teeth and helps to build up resistance against winter's cold.

Sources of Vitamin A are fish oils, eggs, cheese, alfalfa leaves, spinach and broccoli. There is some evidence that a deficiency of Vitamin A may be related to lung cancer.

Another great secret of successful healing with sunlight is its combination with water. It has been claimed that new bone cells can be formed when sunlight reaches the marrow with the aid of cold water packs especially cold packs from fresh sun-soaked rainwater.

4.Exercise for at least 30 minutes daily
Just 30 minutes a day is enough to restore and maintain your health as if you exercise more than this will only stress your heart and body. A brisk walk of 30 minutes daily can do wonders for your health as some people can walk themselves out of depression and anxiety.

5.Hydrotherapy - the water secret
Take a hot shower then with cold water as by alternating hot and cold shower has many benefits -
- Facilitate a rush of blood and energy to your body
- Boosts your immune system
- Improves blood circulation and metabolism

Here is how you do it :-
Three minutes under hot water followed by 30 seconds of cold water and repeat 2 more times.
Some health farms prepare two baths, one with cold and the other with hot water. On the floor in front of the cold bath is a footbath of hot water and likewise on the floor in front of the hot bath is a footbath of cold water. When you take the cold bath, your feet will be soaked in the hot water and when taking the hot bath your feet will be soaked in the cold water. You repeat this process - three minutes in the hot and one minute in the cold, finishing up with the cold. It has been claimed that it is great for varicose veins, piles and pelvic troubles.

6.Drink water according to your lifestyle and in the proper way
There is no fast rule as to how much water to drink daily as it depends on individual's lifestyle. If you are working in an air-condition environment, drinking 6 glasses of water daily is enough but if your work involves a lot of traveling and moving around, you need to drink 8-10 glasses a day. However if you are under the sun most of the time, have at least 10-12 glasses.

How you drink your water plays an important part and Dr Wu recommends that the correct way is to sip it little by little to give your body cells time to absorb the water as if you were to gulp the whole glass, the cells cannot absorb it and the water will be excreted as urine.

7.Eat according to your blood type.
This secret has also been written by Dr. Peter Adamo in his book "Eat Right for your Type'' by Dr. Peter Adamo which focuses on enabling your body to heal itself through fasting, diet, hydrotherapy and exercise.
Dr Wu wrote that people with blood type O should only eat a certain amount of meat as if they eat only vegetables for a long time, their body might not be able to absorb the nutrients needed to boost their immune system. He recommended a diet of 75% vegetables, 10% fruits, 10% meat, seafood and goat's milk and should avoid cow's milk and 5% grains.

Blood group A should increase their diet of grains and fruits and to avoid milk and meat. Blood group B to avoid meat and group AB to avoid chicken and beef.

8.Eat in natural tandem with your biological clock,
If we listen to our body carefully, it gives us signs or signals when it is time to eat, sleep and wake up and if you consistently ignore such signals, you are putting your organs at risk, stressing them to lose their natural balance which can result in accumulation of toxins and wastes, weakening your immune system leaving your body vulnerable to attacks of bacteria and viruses.

Dr Wu said that our biological clock is divided into three time zones.

From 4am to noon is when you should be emptying your bowels, so prepare yourself a diet pack with fiber in the morning - fruit and vegetable smoothies as suggested earlier.

From noon to 8pm, your body will optimally absorbs food, so lunch is the most important meal. A vegetable salad with grains is highly recommended with fish or boiled eggs We should try to avoid meat at dinner as the amino acids in the meat can disrupt your sleeping patterns and try to have your dinner by 6pm.

From 8pm to 4am, the nutrients and energy from food will be channeled throughout your body organs and the secret to a restful sleep is between 10pm and 2am, as this is the time your immune and self-healing system are functioning at its optimal.

Taking charge of your health involves a natural, simple and holistic approach by learning to nourish your body through proper nutrition, exercise and taking control of your lifestyle. These are the simple secrets which all of us know or have heard of but never really give them serious thought and consistent effort to to use them to heal ourselves but instead search high and low for a cure when the cure is already within us.

"Nothing can be more important or necessary to know than the science of nutrition, so let your medicine be your food and your food your medicine". - Hippocrates
